Baby, let me tell you, it is not my problem that the hospital doesn't stand enough PACU nurses for their lunch breaks, my priority is that I'm focused on the patient and not held up on the phone for 10 minutes while my patient is waking up
My parents didn't let me go to sleepovers until I was 10, and even then, it was only like 2 family-friends I was allowed to go over to once in a blue moon. As a grown-up, I see why, and I appreciate it.
tonight i am feeling like an awful mom because i set a rule before my kids were even born that they would not sleepover at friends houses and now my seven year old is about to come home crying because she’s the only one leaving the slumber party
I had ACLS renewal class today & it was a blast... It makes me so sad that people hate this job. I hate the politics and all the hoops we have to jump through, but never do I feel like the job itself is sucking the soul out of me.
The way that the booking office books cases for our ORs is truly unhinged, like I'm wondering if the hospital has just lets somebody's toddler make the whole thing up in an effort to not pay anyone to actually do this work
Yesterday, we had no really new residents working, just ones that maybe were on other rotations before and returning or starting the peds leg this month, and people who work here STILL talked about the July 1st thing. Please cut it out.
Alignment with whiteness (looking at those who argue that Asian Americans were unfairly harmed in current practices of Affirmative Action) will not protect you from the harms of white supremacy.
Meanwhile, I went to an Ivy-League school with kids who had entire buildings named after someone in their family.
Yeeeah…Guess who doesn’t have access to generational wealth like that…
Slave-descended Black people like me.
We are 400 years behind you.
You are 400 years ahead of us.
I wasn’t the one who got the handout.

As an Asian American, I'm fully preparing for the disappointment of rich, privileged Asian students who will realize their money doesn't make them special... and also the weeping of the less privileged when this whole thing backfires on us bc it definitely will.
Well if nothing else the Supreme Court ruling is gonna humble some white and Asian students when they find out they still didn’t get in to their dream school and it wasn’t the fault of already underrepresented Black applicants.
34 percent of Harvard students are white. 43 percent of those students are either legacies, children of faculty, kin of donors or a recruited athlete. 75 percent of them would not have gotten in if not for special status (National Bureau of Economic Research).
But when in doubt, blame the Black people!
Not my hospital insisting that we are LGBTQA+ friendly and literally no one ever being held accountable to actually give competent care to trans patients
Last thing: let's not forget that the lawsuits that led to this AA SCOTUS decision were launched not because kids couldn't get into college due to consideration of race in admissions, but because they didn't get into the college they WANTED, that they felt entitled to attend.
Sotomayor to Thomas:
"The three Justices of color on this Court graduated from elite universities and law schools with race-conscious admissions programs, and achieved successful legal careers, despite having different educational backgrounds than their peers."
Not the people who never have to give emotional and psychological bandwidth to how they are perceived and how they have to act to be safe in this world? Not the people whose grandparents and parents could afford to go to these elite schools back when AA didn't exist?
I'm not saying us Asian Americans don't face discrimination in America, but the process of undergraduate college admissions is NOT a place where we face discrimination. If that was the case, we would make up less than 7% of student body across all colleges.
Babe, you *really* think the people who "unfairly" took spots from you are *other minorities*? Not the people who start off their lives with a gold spoon in their mouths? Not the people who are automatically assumed to belong bc of the way they look?
I applied early admission to Williams College. My entire life I had one goal at the end of childhood: Go to college. My family had nothing to give, so I had to do everything in my power to succeed. One day in the fall, I got a call from admissions.
We have to stop calling these rightwing #SCOTUS opinions--marinated in racism and classism and homophobia--"flawed" or wrong. We must instead understand that the constitution acts as the living will of the founding racist, rapist, xenophobic, sexist enslavers and that, is the ONLY precedent the Court(s) is bound by. #AffirmativeAction #AntiBlacknessAsPrecedent #FurtiveBlackness #scotusReform
