no they don’t, more and more hospitals are baby friendly and practice rooming in, which means you’re responsible for your baby immediately upon them coming out and being cleaned. Nurseries are a thing of the past.
@nurserantzz@OliveSiffleur@SarahMiller1979 yeah and some states are even more crazy than others! it's likely a liability and licensure thing, PCP may not have much experience with older patients with ADHD as well. Getting the records from the past & showing proof of scheduling with a psych may get him on board temp
@thisisnefertiti Idk I feel like most of the stuff I got on my last trip I actually use every day(paper and toilet paper holders, cat scratch pad, hanging shower caddy) and a bra I’ve already worn 3x in 3 weeks but tbf I do go in with a specific list
In 1952, a Marine lieutenant bought a small Mongolian mare from a young Korean stable boy for $250. The boy sold her because he needed money to buy an artificial leg for his sister.
The Marines named her Reckless, after their recoilless rifle platoon.
Her job was to carry heavy ammunition up steep hills to the guns. The Marines trained her to step over barbed wire, lie down under fire, and run into a bunker when shells started falling.
She learned fast. She also learned to eat everything: scrambled eggs, pancakes, Coca-Cola, beer, chocolate bars, and once, reportedly, a pile of poker chips.
In March 1953, during the Battle for Outpost Vegas, Reckless proved what she was made of.
In a single day, she made 51 trips up and down the mountain, mostly alone, carrying thousands of pounds of shells through enemy artillery fire. On the way back down, she often carried wounded Marines.
She was hit by shrapnel twice. She kept going.
The Marines promoted her to sergeant, then staff sergeant. She was awarded two Purple Hearts.
After the war, she came to America, lived at Camp Pendleton, and had foals of her own.
Life magazine named her one of America's 100 greatest heroes, alongside people like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
My sister has worked on maternity wards for a decade+. She once told me they had a screening term: FLK. Funny Looking Kid. Sometimes congenital conditions trigger that uncanny valley feeling. But before a real screening they'd see how funny looking the DAD was. Like... Oh! Nvrmnd
"Qualified" to my parents was a safe person and responsible enough to not burn down the house. "Qualified" to many parents today is at minimum a montessori teacher
Many moms are high-strung w/ insane standards for sitters, largely gone are the days of "here’s pizza money, just put on a movie and have them in bed by 8"
@OliveSiffleur@SarahMiller1979 He might be they really cracked down on ADHD meds a few years ago! The good news is if your moms been on it for a while, and you get a good doc or psych NP like mine all I have to do is 10 min FaceTime check ins each month lol
omg remember when ppl on twitter were like "you're a liar there's no way you only got $4k from the house sale unless your dad had like, 7 kids" and i got to be like, well look at you figuring it out
Yeah some people are genuinely selfish arseholes who neglect their parents but every time I've chatted to a tiny sweet old lady whose family never visits it has usually become PAINFULLY clear why this has occured, within, like, five minutes tops.
They broke Eisenhower’s globe because they didn’t want to wait for a team of specialist historians to move it.
I cannot think of a more apt metaphor for Pete Hegseth’s DoD.
