I have had an argument with film enthusiast friends many times over #GhareBaire. They aver that this film isn't one of Ray's better works, and always cite #Charulata as the better film.
GhareBaire is closer to my heart for many reasons - primarily the exploration of nationalism and patriotism and the manner in which #SatyajitRay projects two distinct views of nationalism in the film: #Tagore vs #Gandhi(in real life the two gentlemen had many civilzed discussions on the subject). And then of course there are the sublime performances by #SaumitraChatterjee as the idealogue Sandip and #VictorBanerjee as the noble zamindar.
