He gave the fanbase two options
1. Short-term pain with sustained success on the future
2. Instant gratification but with the vicious cycle that has plagued this club since 2013 still persisting
I think we know what our stupid fanbase chose.
What Rúben Amorim was building at Manchester United vs what Michael Carrick has turned us into.
AMORIM:
— Tried to establish a clear footballing identity.
— Demanded discipline and accountability.
— Challenged the board instead of protecting them.
— Backed young talents like Yoro and Heaven
— Worked to rebuild the dressing-room mentality.
— Wanted players suited to a long-term system.
— Refused to lower his standards to please anyone.
CARRICK:
— Has left us looking tactically confused.
— Keeps playing attackers out of their natural positions.
— Has failed to find a settled, balanced starting XI.
— Has made questionable defensive selections.
— Struggles to control matches against weaker opposition.
— Has overseen our worst league start in 40 years.
— Couldn’t protect a lead against 10-man Tottenham.
Amorim was building something that needed patience. Carrick inherited the project, but we’re now watching it lose direction.
The biggest mistake INEOS made wasn’t appointing Carrick. It was abandoning Amorim before giving his project a proper chance. We sacked the man demanding change and kept the problems he was trying to fix.
