Halal slaughter - the slicing of an animal's throat and the draining of its blood whilst a Muslim prayer is said - is a barbaric practice and must be banned.

A sheep can take up to 4 minutes to completely bleed out.

For a goat, up to 5 minutes.

For cattle, up to 15 minutes.

Slaughtering animals in this way causes unnecessary suffering, immense distress and pain.

Halal slaughter is animal abuse. This foreign practice has invaded our meat supply. We are all eating it without our knowledge, nor our consent. People should not be forced to eat halal or be deceived into it.

In 2015, it was estimated was 114 million animals were subjected to Halal slaughter in England and Wales. In 2024, this roughly doubled to 214.6 million.

In 2024, 82% of sheep in England and Wales were slaughtered with Halal methods. This works out approximately 4 in every 5 sheep were slaughtered to Islamic practice.

In the same year, 48% of goats and 22% chickens were killed in the same way.

We are a Christian country and a nation of animal lovers who take animal welfare seriously. It is our culture to ensure animals are treated with care, compassion and respect.

The following countries have already placed restrictions on Halal slaughter:

🚨 BREAKING: 29 Muslim men have been charged in connection with the repeated r*pe and sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old girl in the Calderdale area of West Yorkshire.

The case is another horrific chapter in Britain’s grooming-gang scandals, in which vulnerable young girls have allegedly been targeted by organized groups of men over extended periods. The girl in this case was just 13 when the abuse allegedly began.

Similar scandals in places including Rotherham, Rochdale, and Oxford exposed devastating failures by authorities to protect victims, with official reviews finding that concerns about community tensions and accusations of racism sometimes contributed to hesitation or inaction.

These cases cannot be dismissed as isolated incidents. Years of investigations, inquiries, and convictions have documented networks using grooming, gifts, drugs, threats, and violence to exploit vulnerable girls while institutions too often failed to intervene.
