It’s time for a Great British Food Producers Act:
The UK government must support British farmers and protect food consumers - through an emergency economic stimulus package for British farmers & food producers that will offset the increased energy & fertiliser costs faced by farmers because of the Iran war - which in turn, will help to keep food prices down for cash strapped consumers during an escalating cost of living crisis. Create a ‘Buy British Food’ campaign to clearly promote local farmers and food producers. End the supermarket ‘farmwashing’ false advertising that passes off foreign food as being produced in the UK. And to ensure that locally produced food is given priority in schools and hospitals rather than contracts given to ultra processed food corporations. This would stimulate local economies and provide healthy local food to children and patients.
The public would support it.
