If you still support Platner that's your right but I think you should be at least conscientious about the way you talk about abuse. This is a serious issue that goes beyond electoral politics and some of y'all are telling on yourselves
As far as last second Platner replacements are concerned, Janet Mills should be off the table.
David Costello or a losing gubernatorial primary candidate other than Angus King iii should be the only options considered if there are credible SA allegations against Platner.
Substantive point re airtime devoted to scandals may be true but this response to potential SA allegations being reported on is tone-deaf to the extreme. Literally a man telling potential victims that their voices shouldn't be heard
Senator Bernie Sanders was noncommittal when asked by a Washington Examiner reporter if there’s a concern sexual assault allegations could come out against Graham Platner.
Bernie Sanders: “Why don't we examine income and wealth inequality?”
It doesn't matter if these are ironclad allegations or not, if you have sexual assault allegations published in places like NYT/WaPo he's not going to survive it on top of everything else.
So Shirley Weber sees how every 2 years everybody, from the left to the right, shits on how slow California counts and she somehow decides that they don't need to count quicker or fix their methods
I wish there was a world where Weber's joke of an op-ed led to her receiving a prominent primary challenge this cycle.
You cannot defend taking up to a month to certify vote counts & several days to count just >80% of votes. Literal gold for the election denialism movement
Texas senate race 2026:
- Guy who cheated on his wife who is a state senator and used his position as Attorney General to cover up an affair
- Regular guy with regular girlfriend
This is what happens when you don't have Labour running local authorities.
@mhclg should take Crews Hill out of Enfield’s hands, designate it as a Development Corporation, and get on with building the homes London desperately needs.
It's now time for government to step in and announce Crews Hill as a Development Corporation, using CPO powers to secure the land at existing use value and set up a planning authority to take on responsibility for masterplanning and determining applications as they come forward.
Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America.
He embodies the broken system we’re running against.
It’s time to come together: The People vs. Ken Paxton
@UnionJacked__ The stakes are higher too given Labour is in government. I really don't believe (outside of a handful of MPs) they want a messy and wide open contest filled with contenders without actual PLP support. Opposition is the place for that
Welcome to Britain, where we build a massively successful infrastructure project then don't even try to replicate it. London's Crossrail 2 plans are mothballed, and hopes of crossrails in Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow exist only as twinkles in railway geeks' eyes.
What unites Blue Labour and the soft left?
What unites the old right and the Socialist Campaign Group?
I've written for @NewStatesman on how reindustrialisation can unite Labour - and what that means for 'Manchesterism'.
