The Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance is a non-profit, business/citizen coalition focused solely on promoting the best transportation solutions.
A new @GMU_CRA study shows the @oplanesmd project will generate 43,400 jobs; $3.3 billion in salaries, wages & benefits; $12.5 billion in economic activity; & $350 million in state and local taxes during construction. A major win for the region's economy. https://t.co/EanIx9FdyT
In a @washingtonpost op-ed, Sec. Greg Slater discusses a regional approach to the transportation network. “Thinking & acting with unity, we can create a transportation network to serve & connect people and businesses across the region...” https://t.co/x2meQTHz4Z #MDOTdelivers
A MAJORITY of the MoCo Council supports adding the Maryland HOT Lanes project back in at tomorrow's TPB meeting due to MDOT's renewed transit commitment & regional benefits. This is a major victory for DC area residents. @AdamTuss@Bruce_DePuyt@shaverk https://t.co/GT4aynIkWZ
cybersecurity and privacy, autonomous vehicles (especially zero-occupant passenger vehicles), incentive and pricing mechanisms, communications infrastructure, regional interoperability, and infrastructure to decarbonize the transportation system."
Great article in the RTD from @NVTAuthority Chair @PRandallcares and Vice-Chair Dave Snyder about the importance of technology to our transportation future. https://t.co/8rpck4vHYJ
"As we plan strategically for the future of mobility and invest in an infrastructure that can support new technologies — while embracing the values of safety, equity and sustainability — it is critical we address congestion reduction, accessibility to jobs,
@mkorman Another huge shift towards Montgomery County's plan to add managed lanes from the American Legion Bridge to the ICC. https://t.co/aANMd0DqPi
Hope you will join the region's business and labor communities in supporting this important project https://t.co/hda57md0Oz
@JWPascale A very big deal. MDOT continues working with Montgomery County to reduce community impacts and shift the project towards the 2019 MoCo proposed alternative. https://t.co/aANMd0DqPi
@EvanMGlass @MDOTNews MDOT continues working with Montgomery County to reduce community impacts and shift the project towards the 2019 MoCo proposed alternative. We hope you will join the region's business and labor community in supporting this important project https://t.co/hda57md0Oz
Momentum is building to fix our region's worst bottleneck - the American Legion Bridge. The Alliance is proud to join a diverse coalition of 62 regional organizations supporting this important multimodal project. https://t.co/hda57md0Oz
@FixRoute28 Also as a point of reference:
1.) VA was planning to spend $300 million on I-66, until the I-66 EMP bid
2.) VA paid $400 million for 495 Express Lanes
4.) Construction costs alone are more in MD than they were on I-66
Essentially comparing apples to oranges
@tomhucker@AdamTuss@nbcwashington Except:
- Montgomery County Plan quoted above is ALB to the ICC (exactly what MDOT is proposing)
- There is no state funding to do this without a P3
- the P3 creates $300 million for transit in MoCo that doesn't exist today
- Also creates funding for bike and ped improvements
@tomhucker@AdamTuss@nbcwashington And yet MDOT's current proposal is identical to this request: "The county proposes the construction of new “managed lanes” — a mix of free and variable toll lanes — on the American Legion Bridge, I-270 from a point north of I-370 south and the connecting portion of I-495"
@CarFreeHQ2 As referenced in the original tweet, the Alliance supports MDOT's plan to expand the region's express lanes network as envisioned in the Visualize 2045.
$145 million upfront = no net cost to MD taxpayers
Also, +$300 million commitment to transit improvements,
-$1.7 billion in MD maintenance cost for ALB/495/270, and
+$3 billion in private investment = major windfall for MDOT and MD economy
