@DukeDarls ‘Their starting point is the finish line you’ve been praying for all your life’… Omo I felt that.
The sad truth is mostimes we all hope and pray for better days, but what if the present is actually our “better days”, and it might get worst from here on out?
💔😥Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois pictured walking towards each other during a Belgium training session…
still reportedly not on speaking terms after more than 11 years. 📸😅💔
The story between Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois is one of the wildest teammate fallouts in football, and it had nothing to do with football
But with a Woman
Here’s what happened.
Back in 2014, Kevin De Bruyne was in a long term relationship with a girl named Caroline Lijnen.
They had been together for several years and were one of the young football couples many people thought would last.
At the same time, De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois were best friends.
Two young chaps that left their home country to play abroad
They were best mates.
Kelvin De Bruyne was playing in Wolfsburg Germany after struggling for playing time at Chelsea.
While Courtois was enjoying the best season of his career on loan at Atlético Madrid, where he had established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers.
Caroline Lijnen was living with Kevin De Bruyne in Germany then but decided to pay Thibaut Courtois a visit.
Kevin De Bruyne saw nothing wrong with it.
His girlfriend wanted to visit his best friend in Madrid who was having the best career of his life.
To him, it was just a normal trip.
He trusted them both.
Little did he know it would become the beginning of one of football’s biggest teammate fallouts.
During her visit, she spent time with Courtois and they have an affair
According to De Bruyne, that visit turned into an affair between my girlfriend and one of my closest friends.
In an instant, he lost both his relationship and one of the people he trusted the most.
Letter in an interview Caroline responded publicly, claiming the story wasn’t as simple as many believed.
She said her and Kevin were already having crack in the relationship but according to her 👇
“Thibaut offered me in one evening what Kevin couldn’t give me in three years.”
More than 10 years later, the two friends are still reportedly nowhere near as close as they once were.
They may play for the same national team.
But the friendship they once shared was never fully rebuilt.
Years later, Kevin De Bruyne reflected on the incident in his autobiography, Keep It Simple.
describing it as one of the most painful moments of his life.
“My world collapsed because he was not only a teammate, but also a best friend.”
He added:
“Things like that simply aren’t done. I still think that today.”
The good news is that both Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois have moved on.
Both are happily married with children, living separate lives.
Ironically, neither of them ended up marrying the woman who came between them.
That’s life.
Sometimes, all it takes is one moment to destroy a friendship that took years to build.
This right here was the turning point in the GOAT debate, and it perfectly sums up the Ronaldo vs. Messi dynamic.
There is a fundamental asymmetry in how both sides operate. Ronaldo fans are generally content with their preference; they back their man and leave it at its that. But engaging with the typical Messi fan feels entirely different, there is a distinct, missionary smugness to it.
To them, supporting Ronaldo isn't just a differing opinion; it’s treated as an intellectual failure, a literal scandal. Their arrogance doesn't stop at mere preference; it’s a collective superiority complex that actively seeks to manufacture a narrative and enforce it as absolute truth.
That’s why the narrative surrounding the 2022 World Cup felt so hollow. The overwhelming sentiment, even from the footballing hierarchy, was that Messi "deserved" a World Cup. But nobody deserves anything in sports, especially when what previously held you back wasn't injury, but your own failure on the pitch.
Once the sport decided a player "deserved" a specific outcome, the integrity of the game took a backseat. It all stems from the immense pity his brief, calculated retirement garnered. That moment sent alarm bells ringing across the Messi fanbase, triggering a frantic need to secure his legacy. Coupled with the existing condescending, righteous rage of a fanbase that believes their icon is untouchable, it completely altered the dynamic; transforming them from sports fans into political or religious zealots enforcing a dogma.
Thankfully people are waking up to it. 🙏🏾
The funny thing here is that Mr Eazi might have a celebrity crush who isn't his wife but as a married man, he knows common knowledge should tell him to choose Temi because it doesn't make sense to be crushing on another woman while being married but Temi couldn't reciprocate the same energy. Just to tell you how ruthless women are.
This is what happens when you allow your wife leave the kitchen to join the average modern woman to speak at a podcast. At some point, she must ridicule you because that's how women punish weak men for giving them freedom to act however they like.
A woman telling you she has a celebrity crush is her telling you she has a man she can cheat on you with if he makes a move but men forget to understand that fact. There's no woman who has a celebrity crush that won't cheat on you if the chance presents itself.
"I’m not a looks person"
Not only is she crushing on another man while being married, she also had to rub it on his face that he isn't good looking and bro had to clean his face with shame.
Unfortunately, Nigerian men have no self regard for themselves which is why they keep settling for women who find it amazing to disgrace their partners online at any given opportunity.
Since these two started appearing on podcasts, it has been from one fooling to another. Today Eazi is talking about how pregnancy which is the barest minimum is a supernatural thing for women and they're like gods while his wife keeps reminding him she doesn't care about looks.
Two billionaires in naira, rather than focus on their business, they're always on podcast every week embarrassing themselves.
If there's something you should learn from their union is as a married man, keep your marriage private and settle for a woman who sees you as her celebrity crush.
Know this and know peace.
Ronaldo was asked about Messi once — he answered.
A second time — he answered again.
Then a 3rd and 4th time.
Several journalists kept asking about other players instead of the match Portugal had just won
He has every right to be annoyed. Don’t fall for media manipulation 👍
Romário directly asked Ronaldo Nazário about the viral quote claiming he called Lionel Messi the greatest of all time. 👀
Ronaldo (R9) : "I never said Messi is the best in history… We discovered it was a fabricated by the newspaper Mundo Deportivo in Barcelona. They published it with a photo of me and a fake quote, making it seem like it came from me!" ❌📰
Another Messi PR exposed!
🏴🗣 Graeme Souness:
If Ronaldo had retired 10 years ago, after leading Portugal to success at Euro 2016, his place at the top table - where Pelé, Diego Maradona and his great rival Lionel Messi sit - would already have been secured. He wouldn't have needed to kick another ball, as he'd already achieved so much.
Yet here he is, still pushing himself to the limit. I'm sure some of you will say he is driven by ego, and you would have a point. What I would say to that, though, is there is no top footballer who doesn't have an ego or arrogance and Ronaldo is the best of the best."
