The 7th-grade Project Citizen class finished one of our favorite projects in the Food Justice unit—writing a letter of appreciation to a person or organization doing good work around food activism, food access, culture, or resilience, spreading joy & appreciation far and wide!

It's Spirit Week at Northwest Academy! So far, we've had pajama day, decades day, and students dress as teachers/teachers dress as students day. We love the looks so far and can't wait for the dress like a celebrity day and heroes vs villains day looks!

Last Wed–Fri, we embarked on our annual fall retreats where students and teachers go to bond. 6th graders remained on campus; 7th graders went to Molalla Retreat; and 8th graders went to Anderson Lodge. All of our high schoolers were together at BB Camp in Lincoln City!

It's visiting writer season!!! The middle school kicked off the VW program with @heylauragao, author of Messy Roots! Laura spoke with the middle school and visited our 7th grade English class...she also held a comics workshop for the crew! Thanks for coming by, Laura!

Northwest Academy has been a part of Portland's downtown community since the beginning, and there's nowhere else we'd rather be! Our black and white photography students bopped down the street to take advantage of the action in the downtown @portlandfarmers market this week!

Our inaugural 9th Grade Seminar class started the year by creating vision boards sharing their hopes, dreams, & inspirations for the school year. Sharing the boards was a fun way to build community & find shared interests among these new-to-high-schoolers! #findyourpeople
