Sport is Human
Expounding on nouns and verbs…
We are not JUST a COACH, we coach a sport we cherish.
You are not JUST a PLAYER, but you are playing a sport you value.
We do not HAVE to do these things, we are blessed to GET to do these things 4 a period/season of our lives.
I’ve decided to reflect on a lifetime spent in sport for the betterment of all.
Context 4 some:
27 years in a row on a college basketball bench…12 yrs as a HC, 9 yrs as an AC, 6 yrs Asst AD, 3 yrs as a Mgr, 2 yrs in Ops, 1 yr as a GA, 1 yr AD
JC, D3, D2, LD1, HM…
There's a trend playing out in coaching that we need to be paying attention to.
Good coaches are quitting, preferring to walk away than put themselves and their families through the lifestyle.
Sports should be the bastion of leadership, not the industry leaders are fleeing.
