Most important time to spend their own money is when players aren’t on campus…between 5-8 weeks for most of them.
Third best use of their money is probably a legit mental break…not a vacation that needs another vacation, but a legit mental break.
How much are they taking advantage of what the schools provide vs also needing to spend $ on their own…best use of their own money is most likely to be nutrition based and then likely recovery based expenses. Some schools have everything they need while they’re there.
NBA Players are a business and the best reinvest in their development (On Court, Mentality, Nutrition, Strength, Etc.)
I have a good grasp on how much NBA Players reinvest in themselves.
With College Players now I’d be interested in finding out how many players actually reinvest in themselves to maximize what will most likely be the most money they ever make playing basketball
Especially in this landscape where you are on a 1 year contract and the programs you play for need to extract the most production from you for the upcoming year as opposed to years ago when there was a heavy focus on long term development.

Assessing Character DNA
So many college coaches have told me recently that this is the separator when recruiting the portal - it’s not hard to analyze a player on film, or do a deep dive in to analytics
But if you get a player with bad character dna, or one that doesn’t fit your program it can be a killer
