Andrew Neil was outstanding. The BBC should fire the useless Biased Fiona Bruce & employ Andrew Neil as the new Host. His knowledge on all Politics is incredible & he would not stand for all the Bullshit that all the Guest’s talk. @afneil 👏👏
You want the NATO allies to join you in a war you started without ever consulting these allies about the war or explaining your war aims. We’re meant just to meekly fall in line.
You recently supported a US invasion of a NATO ally (Denmark/Greenland) but now you want these same allies to join your war.
Your president disparaged and misrepresented the role of NATO allies in Afghanistan. But now you want them to join with you again in a war of your making.
You went to war with Iran without a thought of how to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and without involving your allies in the matter. But now you want the NATO allies to bail you out, even though there’s still no plan for Hormuz.
You want the NATO allies to join you in a war in which you still cannot articulate the endgame. Or what victory would look like.
You went to war thinking the Iranian regime would quickly topple, that Tehran would not attack the Gulf States or close Hormuz. Why would we align with such Epic Stupidity?
You and other know-nothing blowhards started this war all on your own. You can finish it on your own. If you’re able to …
@Keir_Starmer On my side?
All my taxes have gone up. All my. Bills have gone up
People who sit in the pub all day while I am working are doing so for longer with more money in their pockets from you and Rachel in accounts escalating the benefits bill
This is desperate stuff. Is this the same ‘outstanding chancellor’ who inherited a 2% inflation rate in July 2024, managed to almost double it within 12 months with huge public sector pay rises and massive tax rises on business costs and has only now seen it come down to 3%, still 50% above her inheritance and the official inflation target? And still the highest inflation in the G7.
Yes, I feared it was. Exactly for what does she deserve credit?
I expect inflation to return to 2% early summer, simply back to where it was when she became chancellor. And that will be due to global price trends rather than anything she’s done.
So two wasted years to get back to where we were — two years which prolonged the cost of living crisis left by the Tories.
Interesting to note that even with most of the year under its belt the Office for Budget Responsibility couldn’t get its economic growth forecast right for 2025.
At the time of the late November 2025 Budget the OBR forecast 1.5% growth for 2025. This was a big increase on the 1% it had forecast back in March 2025.
Yet even with only one month of the year to go it was wrong: the economy grew 1.3% in 2025. Some of us said at the time that the UK economy had slowed throughout the year and there was no basis for an upgrade to 1.5%.
At the November Budget the OBR forecast 1.4% growth for 2026. This was a substantial downward revision on the 1.9% it had forecast in March 2025.
We shall see how accurate 1.4% turns to be … it would basically mean, contrary to all the nonsense coming out of Starmer-Reeves yesterday, that the UK economy was stuck in a low growth rut.
🛑 I don’t believe in jailing people for saying stupid things. But clearly if “rules are rules” and young white mothers with no following get banged up for 31 months for a single deleted tweet, then the ridiculous Mr “Vylan” must also go down
