Curbside voting is always available.
The 2021 law reducing the number of days we have to mail ballots by 5 days for the primary saw 163 Polk County residents submit their request past the deadline that would have been accepted in 2020.
103 are Democrats, 58 are Republicans and 2 are no party.
The Iowa legislature “closed a loophole” last night that allowed 16-17 year olds to obtain and legally use firearms.
The loophole was created when the same republican legislature eliminated background checks on gun purchases a year ago. And we wonder how bad things happen.
Deadline for voters wanting an absentee ballot mailed to them for the 2022 Primary.
The completed request MUST physically be in the Election Office (120 2nd Ave - Des Moines) by 5 PM this Monday - May 23rd. Postmarks do not count.
Polk County residents are receiving a postcard this week from the @IowaSOS regarding polling place changes for the June 7th primary election.
The mailer is required to be sent to voters not more than twenty nor less than seven days before the election. This is a 2021 law change
