🚨OUT TODAY: 58% of police officers say their morale is low, driving many to quit
New report, in partnership with @PFEW_HQ, shows that perceived lack of respect from the govt and public, and concerns over pay, are pushing officers to leave the force. https://t.co/soSnW1F1EM
A fair pay mechanism is needed, including the ‘P-Factor’, a payment for remunerating officers for harm they may encounter while carrying out duties among other restrictions.
Independent research agrees with this positioning.
PFEW will be undertaking a P-Factor review.
PFEW is insisting the Government to take into account the restrictions and limitations put on police officers, the risks they face on a day-to-day basis and for pay to compensate this as part of its ongoing fair pay campaign.

Police officers risk facing a further 4% real-terms decline in pay by 2027, if trends continue.
With members forced to use foodbanks and forces struggling to recruit and retain partly due to pay, this cannot carry on....
Why have most workers’ starting salaries across the board risen by 111% since 1979 but police starting salaries have risen by 51%?
The persistent failure of pay reviews is reflected in the indisputable facts from the @SMFthinktank independent research.

The Government’s suggestion of a 3.5% affordable rise is derisory, when 6.5% would only maintain the trend of police pay falling by 0.8% in real terms per year.
We would need 7.5% rise for a 0% fall in real terms and that is just to account for inflation in 2023...
