The Kenya Kwanza Manifesto pledged to:
🔹Restore debt sustainability
🔹Cut the fiscal deficit to 3% of GDP by FY 2026/27
However, this has been breached...
𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: The FY 2026/27 Budget projects a deficit of 5.5% of GDP (KSh 1.2 trillion) almost double the target.
The administration also pledged to cut reliance on domestic borrowing, citing its crowding out effect on private sector credit and higher borrowing costs. This has also been breached.

🔹 External debt service indicators: above sustainability limits
Projection: debt-to-GDP will stay above benchmark until at least 2029. Debt vulnerabilities aren't easing anytime soon.
