World Environment Day 2026 🌍
This year’s theme calls for urgent climate action. Every tree planted, every wetland protected, and every sustainable choice made today helps build a healthier planet for tomorrow. 🌱💚

For two decades, @REMA_Rwanda has driven Rwanda’s green transformation. Their relentless work has helped restore over 30.4% of Rwanda’s forest cover and revive critical ecosystems, including @nyandungupark & more wetlands in Rwanda.
🐝 Nyandungu Eco-Park is buzzing with possibility!
Today, we proudly handed over equipment that’s a step up from traditional tools, built for scale and impact, to the Nyandungu Eco-Park Beekeeping Cooperative, empowering 45 community members to build sustainable livelihoods
As the world celebrates #WorldBicycleDay2026 today, take a look back at the highlights from last Friday’s public servants’ sports activities at Nyandungu Eco-Park, where City of Kigali officials, public servants, and other participants came together to promote cycling as a healthy, sustainable, and environmentally friendly mode of transport.
The event also served as an opportunity to celebrate the prestigious UCI Bike City Label awarded to the City of Kigali in recognition of its commitment to cycling development and the successful hosting of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships.
As part of its efforts to promote active mobility and healthy lifestyles, the City of Kigali is also rehabilitating five wetlands that will feature more than 60 kilometres of pedestrian walkways and cycling lanes, creating additional spaces for recreation, exercise, and eco-friendly transport.

“Today, ahead of World Bicycle Day, which will be celebrated globally on 3 June, we join the international cycling community in celebrating the many benefits of cycling. We also take pride in Kigali’s recent recognition with the prestigious UCI Bike City Label, awarded last month. This achievement reflects the Government of Rwanda’s continued commitment to promoting cycling, sustainable mobility, and active lifestyles.
We thank the public servants who turned up in large numbers to support and celebrate cycling during the 2025 UCI Road World Championships and other cycling events. Happy World Biodiversity Day 🌍🌿
Students from Rwimbogo Nursery and Primary School visited in celebration of this year’s theme: “Acting Locally for Global Impact.”
Major change begins on a small, local scale. Children visiting Nyandungu Eco-Park are the next generation
of local actors whose connection to biodiversity begins with a single walk through a wetland, learning about ecosystems, and discovering the importance of protecting nature in Kigali and beyond.
By nurturing that connection early, we help shape a future generation that values,
Today, Min. @Dr_Arakwiye hosted Guinea’s Ministers of Environment & Sustainable Dev’t and Infrastructure, together with the Governor of Conakry, on a field tour at @nyandungupark & Gikondo Wetland to exchange experiences on ecosystem restoration & sustainable land rehabilitation.
🐝🌿 Happy World Bee Day!
This year’s theme, “Bee Together for People and the Planet,” reminds us that protecting pollinators means protecting the ecosystems we all depend on.
As ecosystem restoration continues to create thriving habitats for biodiversity, from wetlands
and native plants to the pollinators that help keep nature in balance. Every restored green space plays a role in supporting bees and other species essential to a healthy environment.
As we celebrate World Bee Day, we also celebrate the importance of restoration, conservation,
