NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 32 Years Ago Today, Prince released his 15th studio album, Come. While many consider this to be one of his best albums of the 90's, it certainly came under duress. Prince reluctantly submitted it to Warner Brothers as part of his contractual obligations while his relationship with WB was beginning to sour.
It would be the last that he would give to them as Prince, even though they would release the previously shelved Black Album only 3 months after the release of Come, and then also The Vault...Old Friends For Sale under the Prince moniker. Prince began to use the Symbol as his name moving forward and the album reflected that by indicating the death of Prince (1958-1993) on the cover.
All songs were written and performed by Prince with contributions from Michael Bland, Tommy Barbarella, Morris Hayes, and Sonny T.. The album produced two singles, Letitgo and Space, and while he didn't tour to support the album, he did play quite a few tracks live during concerts in this era.
And even though he pushed against this release, he used 7 of the songs in his stage show Glam Slam Ulysses and six of the tracks on The Beautiful Experience TV movie. So even with its contentious history, he knew he had some bangers on this album.
