I think that in her family home, she was treated in the way she treats Es here: infantilised, yet encouraged to become 'good lover' (specifically wife) one day. It's painful to see her hurting Es with the same ideals, but it makes sense for Mahiru and her tragedy.
things and didn't get any help. She's a perpetrator who still mimics what she saw in romance media, even if their toxic positivity led to the death of her bf. Mahiru makes Es uncomfortable here and doesn't consider boundaries. Denying it is denying a bit part of her character.
People often try to deny how weird Mahiru was here or justify her behaviours with 'mistranslations', but it's just a disservice to her character. She was supposed to make you uncomfortable here, but it only shows her complex nature. She's a victim who learned all these horrible->
@fuuters Honestly same also I think when they showed reports for everyone not just Haruka I got confused cause it feels like. It’s a bit soon to do that. But I think I got used to it but thinking of it like that, and someone else writing it like jackalope it’s interesting is what I think
