近所にあるタイムスの駐車場にこんなクルマがあった。これほどのダメージを受ける事故ってどんな形態なんだろう？エアバッグが展開していないため、大きなGを受けてはいないように思う。ただダメージ凄い！ダンパー、ボンネット、ヘッドライト、フェンダー、左前ドア。乗って帰ってきたらしい。普通に修理したら50万円は大きく超える。

運転技量は十分だったのか？レンタカーだと基本的に車両保険に入っていない。カーシェアだと入っているという話ながら、こんな事故を起こして保険使ったら翌年から激しく増額されてしまう。激しくクルマを壊しても通常の利用料だけで済むんだろうけれど、だとしたらカーシェア全体に対する保険料の増額に結びつく。普段全くクルマを運転していないペーパードライバーなどリスク大。

クルマって運転ミスで他にダメージを与える。技量の無いドライバーは、技量の低さをカバーするような自動ブレーキ付きに限定すべきだと思う。当然ながらインバウンド向けのレンタカーも自動ブレーキ付き車両に限るといった政策を行わないと怖くて安心出来ない。インバウンドや外国人居住者の増加に合わせ、しっかり安全を確保する政策を！　我が国の政治は常に後手後手。ハズレくじを引いたら泣き寝入りを強いられます。

Medical Update: Ben Currie

Ben Currie fell during Free Practice 2 at Old Hall Corner and the session was red flagged. Ben was assessed and stabilised at the circuit by the BSB medical team before being transferred to Royal Stoke University hospital for further assessment and investigation. He remained conscious throughout.

At this stage, he is suspected to have sustained chest and upper limb injuries. Further updates will be provided when available.
