It’s time to start talking about which #11 has had the most impact in NY sports history.
Mark Messier, Phil Simms and Jalen Brunson have all delivered wearing that #11. Simms brought the first two Super Bowl rings to the Giants including one of the greatest Super Bowl performances ever. Messier’s legacy in NY included a Hart Trophy as MVP in year 1 and ending what was the longest Stanley Cup drought at 54 years in year 3.
With all of that said, Jalen Brunson came to an organization that was far more dysfunctional than the Rangers ever were, left about $100 million on the table in the process and ended what many (myself included) thought would be a never-ending drought while winning finals MVP.
There’s a legitimate argument now to say that he’s the best to wear #11 in NY.
In these playoffs alone, Howden is now 3 goals away from matching his entire goal total from three regular seasons with the Rangers.
I’m not convinced this is the same player.
