I want to share with you all a true #horror #airbnb story to create awareness, warn others and demand systematic change at @airbnb so no one will have to go through what I've been going through for the past week.

On 3/4/25 after unsuccessfully trying to reason with a #hostile #airbnbhost, he proceeded to harass me using @Airbnb's own platform. This host mocked people on the #autism #spectrum writing " I am sure you are on the spectrum". @Autism @autismspeaks @AAPD

I promptly reported this to @Airbnb and their response has been appalling. They sent me some generic message then proceeded to close my case. @autism @autismspeaks @AAPD

Feeling helpless by @AirbnbHelp , I decided to reach out to the executive team on 3/5/25 @TaraBunch1 @bchesky @joegebbia and waited for a response.

And of course I didn't hear back from anyone a day later so I emailed them again on 3/6/25, this time adding other key @airbnb executives whose responsibility is to make sure guests are safe and supported including Susan Goggin and Ruben Ponte

To my surprise a "senior case manager" from @airbnbhelp reaches out saying they have been contacted by their executive team. I thought this nightmare was coming to an end! They tell me they will need "at least another 24 hours" to help

In the meantime the host is amping up his efforts to make me miserable first by turning the heat off (he has sole access to thermostat), then when I asked to turn it on, turning it on so high, it was unbearable! I let @AirbnbHelp @Airbnb know so they can speed up the process

I know some people might ask, why don’t you just crack a window?! Well SURPISE! THE WINDOWS ARE SEALED SHUT! So that’s not an option. @Airbnb @AirbnbHelp

Others might wonder “why not get another place?”. Because the vindictive host, cancelled my reservation despite having paid my entire month, although I’ve only been here 20 days. So over $6,000 are gone from my account. @Airbnb @AirbnbHelp

In the meantime, I get hives from how hot it’s been and the immense stress I’ve been under. The host does not respond to my pleas to lower the temperature. @AirbnbHelp comes back and offers me partial refund that will take 5-15 days to only if I leave in a few hours

Understandably hesitant to trust @AirbnbHelp , I ask for assurance that they will refund me. At this point I have taken antihistamines to address the hives and I passed out due to how sensitive I am to that medication. I wake up to now the host threatening to tow my car!

I explain to @AirbnbHelp that the host from hell has given me until 6 pm today to leave but now is threatening me at NOON to get my car towed!
