Devant 10.000 manifestants rassemblés en face de la Commission Européenne à l'appel de 500 associations européennes, je dénonce la manipulation des autorités azéries reprise par certains journalistes et responsables politiques qui parlent de départ volontaire pour la quasi totalité de la population et je rappelle que les Arméniens n'avaient pas quitté l'Artsakh (où je me trouvais en juillet et août 1992), malgré les bombardements et les privations, puis par la suite les incursions de l'armée azérie, la guerre et enfin le blocus de neuf mois qui les avait isolés du monde et plongés dans la famine et la souffrance, qu'ils étaient sur la terre de leurs ancêtres depuis plus de 2500 ans, qu'ils refusaient de quitter leurs maisons, leurs champs, leurs commerces, leurs tombes, leurs églises, leur communauté. S'ils partent tous, c'est bien parce qu'ils fuient devant l'entrée de la soldatesque azérie à Stépanakert pour sauver leurs vies et celles de leurs enfants. Qu'ils n'ont plus le choix devant la haine, les exactions, les crimes massifs, les viols, la torture, les égorgements, la destruction de leurs villages et de leurs maisons, en l'absence de tout journaliste ou tout observateur étranger qui pourraient témoigner.

One of the most remarkable phenomenon of the entire Armenian-Azeri conflict is the similarities between the racist, hateful, incitement against Armenians for no other reason other than they are Armenian, and the racist hateful incitement that Jews experience at the hands of terror supporters.

Antisemitism and Armenophobia even have similar rhetoric. It’s appalling that world has largely ignored this AGAIN even after what occurred to Armenians in 1915.

No country helps #Armenia more than #France. This was announced by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna during a question-and-answer session in the French parliament. She said that all sessions of the #UN Security Council on the #NagornoKarabakh conflict were held at France's initiative.

"We are also strengthening our cooperation in the field of defense. Our #military attaché will be present in #Yerevan, and we will soon open a consulate in the #Syunik marz, near the border" said Colonna.

On September 22, the accredited ambassadors of France and #Iran met in Armenia. #French Ambassador Olivier Decotini and Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Subhani discussed the situation in Armenia and the events taking place in the region, as well as issues of cooperation between the two countries.

The #French-#Iranian meeting in Armenia took place three days after #Azerbaijan's attack on Nagorno #Karabakh. It is likely that the two ambassadors discussed the #Russian-#Turkish-#Azerbaijani claims to Syunik and the opening of the French consulate.

There's also an Iranian consulate in #Syunik, as well as a base of the #EuropeanUnion observation mission. Iran is sensitive to the issue of the presence of foreign forces in Syunik, Armenia. Iran did not allow #Turkey and #Russia to open a corridor through the territory of Armenia, but it didn't see a problem with the opening of the French consulate.

The interests of Iran, France, the #USA, and the #EU coincide on the issue of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia. This unity made it possible to protect the integrity of Syunik.

High-ranking officials of the US administration, US Deputy Secretary of State Yuri Kim and #USAID head Samantha Power arrived in Armenia today. Reuters reported that Power is the first USAID Head to visit #Armenia. The US delegation arrived in Yerevan on Monday, September 26, against the backdrop of mass emigration from Nagorno Karabakh by ethnic #Armenians.

According to the publication, the visit of Power and Kim is the first visit by high-ranking US officials to Armenia since last week's ceasefire.

A #USA official said that Samantha Power will meet with senior government officials and "reaffirm US support for Armenia's democracy, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as its commitment to addressing the humanitarian needs arising from #NagornoKarabakh."

Samantha Power will confirm the US partnership with Armenia and express her concern about the situation of the ethnic Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh and discuss ways to resolve the humanitarian crisis there.

"The United States is deeply concerned about the reports about the humanitarian conditions in Nagorno Karabakh and calls for ensuring the unimpeded access of international humanitarian organizations and commercial traffic" the official said in a conversation with the media.

Let’s talk about Azeri lobbying in Israel. I spent a long time not talking about this because I felt so much pressure as a journalist in Israel but I don’t want to be silent about this.

Azerbaijan has heavily invested in lobbying in Israel at a government and PR level. They even have a fancy tourist center set up on the beach in Tel Aviv. This is a known tactic of Aliyev, who is an anti-democratic dictator as much as he “supports” Israel.

One of the most unpleasant tactics I’ve seen is their buying off of journalists, public figures, and the media. I have personally witnessed utterly false claims being made both in private and public to the Israeli media by the Azeri lobby, which also pressures and harasses Israeli journalists when it comes to speaking out about Armenia. This is not the behavior of an “ally” certainly not of a democratic nation which respects free press.

As a journalist myself, I’ve been invited on “educational tours” sponsored by the Azeri government more than once (which I refused). Many of my peers have both been invited and have gone themselves. I know of cases in which “important people” were literally given gifts of gold Jewellery by the Azeri government during their visit. This is their strategic approach, buttering up key journalists and public figures and bombarding them with false information.

Azerbaijan has an aggressive global political agenda and spends an incredible amount of money lobbying Israel (and others) to promote it — money that Armenia simply doesn’t have. In another example, the Azeri lobby in Israel was behind the effort to essentially trick over 30 MKs into signing a letter supporting separatism in Iran in the Azeri provinces. Once I exposed this, more than 25 of them rescinded their signatures. This is emblematic of the Azeri lobby: dishonest, deceptive and loaded with money. But Azerbaijan, there are some people you can’t buy.

For months, the Azeri regime has been promoting a completely false and fabricated narrative that the Azeris are Israel in this scenario with Armenia and they’re just “defending themselves” against “terrorists.” This is rooted in pan-Turkic ideology that seeks the complete destruction of the first Christian nation in the world (Armenia).

This is a blatant lie used justify ethnic cleansing from the disputed territory of #NagornoKarabakh, an area of 120,000 ethnic Armenians, historically Armenian for thousands of years, that’s surrounded by Azeris. This territory is surrounded by Azerbaijan because of how the Soviets drew the boundaries after the fall of the USSR. Azerbaijan has launched multiple wars and a blockade to drive our Armenians from their land, and they are much more powerful thanks to Israeli weapons.

After the 2020 war, despite the risks, Armenia had offered to give up territorial claims in exchange for the guarantee that the Armenians in the territory will be protected — as Azerbaijan has previously committed massacres and ethnic cleansing of Armenian cities. In Nakhichevan, another territory which was historically Armenian but drawn into modern Azerbaijan’s borders, the Azeris destroyed 98% of the historical and religious sites of Armenians, attempting to erase their connection to the land, after a shameful campaign of ethnic cleansing.

Instead of agreeing to protect the human rights of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh today, Azerbaijan launched another war against Armenians including attacking civilian targets. This comes after months of incitement to violence and dehumanisation of Armenians by the Azeri government and media.

If you see Israelis “supporting” Azerbaijan, just know that it’s the result of an ugly, organized, premeditated lobbying campaign of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan does NOT have shared values with the state of Israel, it is NOT a democracy — it’s a dictatorship, and dictatorships are not true allies.
