Vadda Ghallughara (Greater Holocaust)
This battle between the Sikhs and the Abdali’s forces is considered to be the bloodiest and the largest human loss in the Sikh history within a single day. Around 30,000 to 40,000 Sikh died in this battle, including non-combatants (children, women, and the elderly).

Today, we commemorate the spirit of Chardi Kala (ever-ascending state of awareness and bliss) and the defiance of these brave Sikhs, who lived and died sovereign. They fought for the liberty of life and freedom from persecution for professing a different faith and ideology. We remember all those who preserved their Sikhi every breath and hair.
