Major WNBA free agency domino: All-Star Satou Sabally has agreed to sign a multiyear deal to join the New York Liberty, agent Zack Miller of WME Basketball tells me, @alexaphilippou and @kendra__andrews. Sabally departs after leading the Phoenix Mercury to the 2025 WNBA Finals.
Utah WBB signee Rylee Little (Kanab) led her team to a 2A championship yesterday with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks.
Milika Satuala (Bountiful) had 32 of her team’s 48 points (5 3-pointers) in a semifinal loss to West today. She also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
@tomhaberstroh That’s not even true. The Jazz played their guys, and the coach decided (well within his rights, and not against the rules) to manage his players minutes and his rotations at his prerogative. The didn’t sit guys for no reason. This is blatant overstepping by the league.
Last March, ahead of the Cooper Flagg draft, the Toronto Raptors routinely benched All-Star Scottie Barnes in clutch situations. They sat regularly starters for DNP-Rest. They were not punished or fined.
Today, Adam Silver dropped the hammer on the Utah Jazz for the same thing.
The Kings played an NBA game in Salt Lake City last night and sat six of their top seven players. The Jazz deserve this. And I look forward to seeing the Mavs, Grizzlies, Pelicans, Wizards, Bulls, Nets and Bucks receive the same treatment this season.
BREAKING: Utah Jazz star Jaren Jackson Jr. is likely to miss the remainder of the season to undergo surgery on his left knee to ensure his longterm health after a localized PVNS growth was discovered post trade, league sources tell me.
@andyblarsen Thanks so much for your dedication to this team and community. I’m so happy you’re still going to be around! Best of luck in your new role!
That was some tanking! Down 3, 7 seconds left, Hardy goes no timeout full court. Isaiah Collier takes the game-tying three attempt, misses.
Magic win 120-117.
Hugely successful game for the Jazz: proof of concept with Markkanen/JJJ, and still an L in the standings.
