WHO WATCHES THE WATCHDOG?

Don’t let a degree erase years of experience.
New legislation could eliminate New York’s current pathway to geologist licensure for experienced professionals without a bachelor’s degree—even when they’ve met rigorous experience requirements and passed the required exams.
Our members deserve a fair pathway based on competency, experience, and demonstrated knowledge.
📣 Take action: Write to Governor Hochul and urge her to reject this legislation.

PEF supports expanding access to mental health care, but we have serious concerns about legislation allowing out-of-state psychologists to provide telepsychology services to New Yorkers without sufficient oversight and accountability.
Write to Gov. Kathy Hochul and urge her to VETO this legislation.
Protect quality care, accountability, and New York’s mental health care system.

Thanks to the ACCESS-VR members in Queens who turned out for yesterday’s hybrid meeting in person and via Zoom to talk about issues they face in the workplace and how PEF can help address them — from short staffing to bullying managers. An engaged union is a strong union!
Thanks to the State lawmakers, @ShelleyBMayer, @AndreaSCousins, @CaitforNewYork, and @RepGLatimer, who came out this weekend to hear from PEF member and other union workers at the annual Westchester Putnam Central Labor Council Picnic!
Menstrual products are a necessity, not a luxury.
We are asking that you please write a letter to the Governor urging support for legislation to provide free menstrual products in public buildings across New York.
No one should have to miss work or school, arrive late, or go without because they can’t access a menstrual product.
This is about equity, dignity, and access. New York can do better.

PEF members from across the state are in Syracuse representing their agencies at the New York State Fair. The best information comes from the people who do the work!
Public employees deserve support when they’re injured on the job.
Workers’ Comp claims can take six months or longer, leaving injured employees without benefits and uncertain about using the paid time off they’ve earned.
This legislation would allow public employees to use their accrued time while their Workers’ Comp claim is pending.
📣 Take action: Write to the Governor and urge support for this important legislation.
