It feels like there was only 7 of us who understood during the first watch of the pilot that Paul committed suicide on his own. Nothing about the storytelling suggested Lestat was involved, and 3 seasons in, people still believe it.

literally the only and infinitely more compelling reading of it is that it was simple and straightforward as a mental health tragedy that could happen to anyone, that paul couldn't get any help for at the time period and his loved ones couldn't make sense of

I kept wondering why she was looking at Lestat when asking “you back with him?” But it makes perfect sense that that question was actually intended for him. She’s surprised he’d go back to him after Louis plotted to kill him. “Love makes you stupid” applies to Lestat too.

Also of note, Paul’s presence in the finale was different than the others’ there. Everything from the timing of his entrance, the way he moved, the silence, the communication with the entity, etc. suggested he was more of an angel visiting. Context matters.

This was so true and sad. The methods he constructed to survive early on have not been necessary for a long time, & they keep hurting people that he’s (maybe?) trying to love. They’ve shaped how he views relationships, and his refusal to break the cycle will keep causing damage.
