@HoodieFrazier Wells, Volpe and Doval all have options. But it gets tricky with who’s called up and when the moves are made. Lots of recent moves tie the Yankees hands for awhile. As for George, let’s all relive the late 80’s to see how competent he was. Thankful for Gene Michael saving them.

@The_Bleacherss Bird and Doval have options. No need to DFA them yet. But send them down as soon as replacements like YCruz are available to call up. All the rest is true. Is this a June-July “swoon” like the last few seasons or something else? Somehow this seems worse. Much worse.

@pinstripesnat Boone isn’t going anywhere until his contract is up—after 2027 season. Goldschmidt would be an interesting choice but hiring him would bring the same criticism as Boone—no real managerial or coaching experience. Shelley Duncan would be more likely. But not until 2028.

@The_Bleacherss I’d be okay with bringing in impact relievers to replace DeLosSantos and Doval and Lagrange might be one of them. Also if they move a starter, likely either Weathers or Warren to the pen then one of Yarbrough or Blackburn get DFA’d. I’d be good with that bullpen.

@The_Bleacherss They probably want Lombard Jr and Lagrange to start anything which is too much for any rental. Kilby has been injured all season but expected to return.
Selvidge is out for the season and won’t return until 2027. They won’t take injured players.

@BobbyMilone29 Jeffers is going to cut it close with his injury. Maybe, if they have to they trade for him like they traded for Harrison Bader who was wearing a boot at the time? Hope not. But Jeffers might still be the most likely option of anything out there.

@GinaMuscato Oh, I’m sure there’s all kinds of feasible names to mention who could be available at the deadline. That’s the easy part.
The hard part is what names from the Yankees would have to be part of any deal to make it work. Think overpaying. That’s probably the key to it all.

@YankeeSource Yep. People objected to the qualifying offer to Grisham but what might have happened if Grisham declined? Besides a draft pick would the Yankees have looked at Robert Jr or old friend Harrison Bader?

@BobbyMilone29 Both have options. Yanks could see if they can fix anything at AAA. One could go down when Fried returns though that won’t be soon. So call up Castro, YCruz (when eligible) DeLosSantos or a starter for long relief like ERodriguez or Beck?

@BobbyMilone29 That’s a tough call to send YCruz down. My choice which probably won’t happen is Doval. Seems he could use the work to find some consistency. Doval has great stuff but can’t repeat enough.

@HectorBeauchamp I think it’s Volpe especially since they have declared Caballero their everyday SS. Volpe might need to look at adding other positions to play—especially 2B and that should be done at AAA. But I also believe SJones should be in AAA whenever possible.

@Zalman888 Definitely a target by the deadline. Only question is what it would take to get him? I’m sure people would float names like SJones, Dominguez and Volpe but I suspect the Twins would be talking one of Lombard Jr, Lagrange or ERodriguez to start the discussions.

@YankeeSource Which explains why he was protected from the Rule 5 draft. Yanks saw the potential and realized other teams likely did too. Hope for an uninterrupted rehabilitation period and quick climb up the ladder.

@YanksGoYardFS Likely false. He has options for this year and beyond. As for trade, are there any takers? Hope they try him at multiple positions when he returns to AAA which hopefully happens soon.

@BobbyMilone29 @LukeBecker_YN26 Cruz more so than Lagrange right now. Neither are on the 40 man but there’s room for both of them. Cruz looks like everything has come together and worth a try. Lagrange is the better prospect but he has to cut down on his walks. He needs more work.
