the phrase “for you, I would” is such a gentle and sweet form of love language. even if I wouldn’t normally do something, i would gladly do it just to make you happy.
Increase your surface area for luck by starting more conversations, meeting more people and just going outside more. Nothing big happens on your bed, get up and move!
Honestly, we are all to blame for this culture of entitlement. And this is why:
Giving out of ego: Many givers give out of pride, with a clear intention to show off or prove their status. On the other side, receivers put these givers on a pedestal, expecting a certain payout. When the gesture falls short of their expectations, the get disappointed, which develops into a toxic mentality of entitlement.
The illusion of shared wealth: In Nigerian society, there is a general belief that what belongs to our parents, brothers, or sisters automatically belongs to us. Because we aren't the ones doing the hardwork, we completely undermine the pain, sweat, and hard work people go through to make every single penny.
The diaspora myth: Many Nigerians believe that the moment you cross the border and leave the shores of the country, money grows on trees in the West. They have no concept of the reality of bills, taxes, and grueling work hours.
you must believe you are special and then go so hard, for so long, with such violent refusal to accept any other ending, that reality itself starts running out of ways to tell you no. you must wage a war daily against the ordinary outcome, until the belief you invented out of nothing in a room by yourself has been hammered into the world so many times that it stops being a claim and becomes reality.
