In its Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Assessment report, the IMF has mentioned sugar sector’s capture by Pakistan’s elites. It’s a fact PMLN government first exported sugar and price escalated to Rs220 per kg as admitted by Food Ministry this week. It then imported sugar and now again allowed export of imported sugar. On August 19, 1861 - four years before the Matterhorn was climbed - Haversham Godwin-Austen, with a translator-secretary, a sirdar and some of his fifty-five Balti support staff, climbed about 1000m above Urdukas on the Baltoro Glacier and made the first survey of K2. This is his watercolour and chalk picture of the scene. K2 is extreme left, with Broad Peak left of centre. The porters in his picture are setting up the brass and mahogany plane-table to make the survey, which recorded K2's height at 8616m. (Present height, 8611m!). The purpose of the survey was to define the watershed of the Great Snowy Range (now the Karakoram,/Himalaya) and set the northern limits of the British Empire in India.

This watercolour of Godwin-Austen's is the jacket illustration for the first edition of John Keay's "When Men and Mountains Meet" (John Murray, 1977).

یہ تو آپ کی پولیس کی حالت ہو گئی وہاں پر ۔ اس وقت کرم، اورکزئی کے علاقے، وہاں پر تو اب کچھ بھی نہیں رہا جی۔ تو یہ سارا پشتون علاقہ ہے اور اس پشتون علاقے میں اور خیبر پختونخوا میں تو بالکل ہی رِٹ ختم ہو چکی ہے۔

حضرت، آپ ہماری بات مانیں، یا تو یہ ہے کہ ہم عمداً اس کی اجازت دے رہے ہیں ، یا کوئی ڈیپ ایسی انڈر اسٹینڈنگ ہے کہیں جو پبلک کو نظر نہیں آ رہی ہے۔ اور یہ سارا کچھ کیوں ہو رہا ہے جی؟

بلوچ علاقوں میں، حضرت، آپ چلتن کو عبور کریں تو اس سے آگے چاغی تک ہو یا آپ مستونگ اور خضدار تک جائیں، آج صرف شہروں کو بچانے کے لیے میں آپ کو بتانا چاہتا ہوں، صرف شہروں کو بچانے کے لیے شہروں کے گرد کھدائی کی گئی ہے اور اس کے اندر فوج نے مورچے سنبھال لیے ہیں اور وہاں پر ایکوئپمنٹس لے جا رہے ہیں، تاکہ صرف شہر بچ سکے، ضلعی ہیڈکوارٹر بچ سکے، تحصیل ہیڈکوارٹر بچ سکے، باقی میدان، دیہات وغیرہ وہ ان کے حوالے ہیں۔

تو اس سنگینی کو آخر کیوں ایڈریس نہیں کیا جا رہا؟ اور اگر میں یہ بات کرتا ہوں تو مجھے کیوں مجرم کہا جا رہا ہے؟

صحافی چلے جائیں، عالمی انسانی حقوق کی تنظیمیں آ جائیں، باہر سے وہ چلے جائیں ان علاقوں میں، دودھ کا دودھ، پانی کا پانی ہو جائے گا۔

اس صورتِ حال میں جبکہ آپ کے گھر میں آگ لگی ہوئی ہے اور بھائی جو ہیں وہ آپس میں بیٹھ کر اس گھر میں، جس میں آگ لگی ہے، آؤ ذرا اس گھر کو کیسے تقسیم کریں۔ یہ کوئی معقول بات ہے؟

آپ نے آگ بجھانی ہے یا آپ نے گھروں کو تقسیم کرنا ہے؟ تو صوبے بنانے کے بعد بھی ایسی ہی صورتِ حال تقریباً ہے۔

An issue I see on this platform is that a lot of people working in enterprise never worked in a small org, and people working in a small company never worked in enterprise...

Many of those individuals are running blind.

The assumption that a large enterprise is simply a collection of small teams is why so many corporate AI initiatives stall.

In a small team, the primary challenge is execution capacity, ie, writing code, drafting copy, assembling slide decks, etc.

Generative AI speeds up *that* type of production, so a small team feels the impact immediately because the distance between creating something and shipping it is ~0.

An enterprise, however, is obviously NOT built for production speed.

An enterprise is built for risk mitigation, alignment, scale, reputational constraints.

The foundation that allows a company to grow to ,000s of employees is precisely what prevents AI from offering an easy win.

In a large organization, producing a initial draft is barely 10% of the actual work. The remaining 90% consists of securing cross-functional buy-in, regulatory compliance, political sensitivities, getting legal clearance, etc. The "boring" stuff for many...

The true operational leverage in a big company lives in "dark matter": tribal memory, informal networks, personal credibility, that *intuitive* sense of how decisions actually get made vs what the org chart dictates.

Because an AI assistant operates purely on documented facts, its outputs are often logically sound yet contextually blind, missing the exact nuances required to move a decision forward.

This leads to a paradox where localized productivity creates global futility.

Practically, if 20 individual teams use AI to generate reports, proposals, and updates 2x as fast, they FLOOD senior leadership with a wall of synthesized prose, pushing the burden of filtering and reconciling conflicting outputs onto the executive layer.

This of course doesn't speed up the organization!

Local efficiency ends up creating more central drag, which will only stop the moment organizations learn how to:

> use AI to untangle internal dependencies,

> automate the triage of complex policies,

> fundamentally redesign their governance frameworks to match the speed of generation.

I think it's safe to say we are several years away from all of that…
