@buperac Remove the bad actors, which has happened, strengthen the Stable Keepers Act, ensure all FA cattle are branded. Those are the actions taking place.
@buperac There was a playbook that took advantages of loopholes, that much is true. Most co-op boards hold themselves responsible to membership as the risk of a co-op is spread across the whole group holding security with the FA. That’s the incentive to behave.
@buperac What is stopping every LFA from behaving like PBFC is the fact that a board in most cases governs to look after all membership. That one didn’t and they’ve been caught. Stop saying everyone in the program is a bad actor, it does no good other than to sell your t shirts I guess.
@buperac I don’t know where you came up with this but you’re wrong. The program finances the purchase of 400,000 cattle per year. Simple math at $2500/head average would prove that the money is needed.
@buperac Further, $2500 will not buy anything this fall. That’s why the additional guarantee was necessary. I’m the chairman of a mid sized FA (just outside the top 5 in the province) and we lend far more than $10 million per year so you are misinformed there too.
@buperac You should learn a bit more about the program. Phillip was a director on both boards. There’s nothing untoward or improper about that. The other four directors on the provincial board are directors on their local feeder associations as well. Keep digging but do some homework too
@Morganificent Aren’t they and their husbands the people you’d like to be hauling commodities for? I wouldn’t think you’d shit so close to where you eat but maybe you’re under the mistaken belief that @Morganificent exists in a vacuum separate from your real life
@RobSomerville1 When people tell me that ‘everything is so green’ I think that even a pool table is green, that doesn’t mean there’s much for a cow to eat on it.
If you or anyone you know in Southern or Central Alberta wants a good Blue Heeler pup from working lines let me know. I’ve got one of each that will be ready to go this weekend. #cowdog#blueheeler#AustralianCattleDog
This is what $21,000 bought today in Stavely AB. 10 green 5 weight heifers knocked down at $419/cwt. Wild times in the cattle business. Let’s all hope it rains.
@RobSomerville1 Land cannot produce the same crop year over without diminishing returns. Wind is a crop. I guess the good thing about wind and solar is that you’re told when the diseconomies of diminishing returns happen. 15-20 years. As long as the equipment lasts.
