A childhood dream fulfilled but scoring Scotland’s winner in our first World Cup game in 28 years is just bonkers! The support last night and back home is just as expected. Quality! Let’s keep going!! 🏴🏴

When Vincent wrote this, ‘modern life’ looked very different, yet the feeling is easy to recognise.
He probably experienced anxiety as something in the air: not owned, but absorbed, shaped by the pace and pressures of the time. Perhaps that’s why the line still resonates. Not because things are the same, but because living through change, and carrying some of its weight, is something we share.
And maybe there’s a quiet comfort in that: we’re not facing it alone.
“The handwritten style was my idea… I thought the record was a punk album… I had to write it out about 20 or 30 times before I was happy with it.. This original copy had to be sent off to the printers to be scanned.” (Brian Cannon)

The folks at the BBC asked if I’d make a show to mark Scotland’s return to the World Cup. FIFA’s ticket prices etc killed the buzz a bit and showed where the game is headed so I made a show that celebrates everything that football brings to people.
From supporters whose clubs represent communities and are more than just football teams, to children and adults at all levels who find joy, purpose and a sense of escapism from playing football and to top-level footballers (past and present) who are still in touch with and truly value and respect the importance of supporters and where they came from.
It’s on @bbciplayer from Friday June 5th @BBCScotland the same night and then @bbcone Sunday June 7th 10:30pm.
