📝Subnational Leadership Workshop Held from 14th–16th July 2026 in Abuja

The Subnational Leadership Workshop was held from 14th to 16th July 2026 in Abuja.

The workshop was designed to strengthen leadership, coordination, and collaborative capacity among NCDC subnational liaison officers to better align subnational public health functions with the NCDC’s national mandate and the National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS), in line with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).

Specifically, the workshop enhanced leadership and coordination competencies, improved participants’ understanding of subnational roles in implementing IHR core capacities, strengthened multi-sectoral collaboration for public health emergency preparedness and response, and promoted peer learning, networking, and operational accountability across states.
The workshop contributed to a more coordinated, responsive, and accountable subnational public health system, supporting Nigeria’s health security objectives.
