After the successful completion of our project, which had been on for almost a month, my boss invited us to a church close by for a general thanksgiving.

The pastor preached about giving and tithing, claiming it opens doors. Then he switched to prayer and declared that everyone should come forward with their tithes right away.

The moment I heard that, I opened my eyes 😂. Some people went forward, but most of us stayed back. He then said we should come out and pay now that our salaries were still fresh and untouched, before the worries of life caused us to spend beyond our budget. Me: unbothered.

He raised his voice again and said, "Don't cheat God, pay your tithe else you'll lose your money on your way home. You cannot cheat God and expect life to be fair."

The moment he said that, you should have seen how people rushed out to make their donations. Myself and a few others stayed back, unbothered.

Guess who got home safe? Me.

Enough with all these manipulative tendencies, coercion and brainwashing. I will give when I want to, and what I want to, not because of fear or pressure.
