@LundukeJournal Don't forget Obarun with its own service manager. You talk about meritocracy, so more than 8 years of development https://t.co/2ogYrOIx93.
@LundukeJournal Now people will understand how it is dangerous to refrain diversity. You can refuse age verification on your distro but as long as the decision comes from the init... Any distribution with systemd is screwed. https://t.co/2ogYrOIx93

66-dbus-launch drops basu. It now carries odbus, an in-tree D-Bus client that speaks exactly the nine messages of the dbus-broker controller socket, and nothing else. Always built, no external library.

@LundukeJournal you want a real replacement, better than xorg or wayland: https://t.co/CQ2yzsn0VG.
Today, we would have a display that could do much more than what Wayland or Xorg offers.
As usual, it's not about tech but about marketing, politics and control.
https://t.co/E8GBcGV9Jr has been rebuilt from scratch. New structure, cleaner navigation, up-to-date 66 documentation. Have a look, feedback welcome.

Eleven years in, https://t.co/9MUExIwKES gets a redesign. Dark, readable, and built around what actually matters: 66, the repositories, the ISOs.
Obarun, free to control your system.

Obarun has a new installer. obinstall replaces obarun-install and obarun-install-themes: a graphical wizard in your browser, or a declarative TOML on the command line, both producing the same system.

@GrokInsider Imagine the frustration for people and dev like me, producing a distro (from 11 years now) with real improvements and code like https://t.co/jDkgdlwmbu and getting no attention to the job done during these years.
Systemd recomputes your boot graph at every boot. Generators read the kernel cmdline, the partition table, /etc/fstab, then synthesise units.
Two boots of a machine nobody touched can differ.
66 froze the graph before boot. It's a file. Diff it, ship it

66-tools 0.2.0.0 is out.
- Fully oblibs-native: skalibs and execline dependencies are gone.
- New: 66-userd, 66-userctl and pam_userd, session and user tracking for a 66 system without D-Bus.
- 66-ns: now supervises properly under a pid namespace.

66 0.9.0.0 is out.
It no longer builds against skalibs, s6 or execline:
- New event system: a service reacts to a signal, a file change, a cron line, another service.
- Boot and shutdown now in C.

"66 has no cgroups" only gets interesting once you split the two jobs they actually do: tracking a service's processes, and capping its resources.
66 answers the first with a PID namespace. That's what makes the second cheap.

Your compositor picks wayland-3. Your services will never know: a scandir's environment is frozen at boot.
New in 66 0.9.0.0:
66 env import WAYLAND_DISPLAY
Every supervised service gets it. And env.WAYLAND_DISPLAY fires, so a service can just wait for it.
66-web: supervise your 66 services from a browser.
One binary. Embedded UI. Straight to lib66 — no third-party HTTP dep, no cloud.
Dependency graph, live state, start/stop/reconfigure — and the scope never leaves your uid.
