MINISTRY OF HEALTH
PUBLIC CLARIFICATION
The State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards wishes to clarify that the suspension of meetings, conferences and seminars held in hotels applies exclusively to staff of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards. This internal administrative measure is intended to ensure the availability of technical officers to support ongoing emergency response operations.
The measure prioritises emergency preparedness, contact tracing and response activities to contain the Ebola Virus and prevent further transmission. It also facilitates the implementation of established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the prevention, preparedness and management of Ebola and other highly contagious infectious diseases.
For the avoidance of doubt, this measure does not constitute a blanket suspension of Government meetings, conferences or seminars held in hotels.
@TheKengineer1@Muoria_Dr@HonJuliusMigos@MurangaUni@NdindiNyoro@TVET_MoE Industrial attachment is a compulsory part of training, employability and national development. Blocking students from attachment despite ongoing government commitments to skills development risks wasting public investment, delaying graduations and worsening youth unemployment.
While the government continues to invest billions into TVET, youth empowerment and industrial skills development, thousands of students across Kenya are now being locked out of mandatory industrial attachment due to fee arrears.
Today, I reaffirmed a simple but urgent truth: **TVET is the master key to Kenya’s transformation and that key must now turn with results.**
I was honoured by the presence of the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, whose leadership continues to strengthen the education sector. In his address, the Cabinet Secretary underscored the need to integrate rapid technological change into training, strengthen continuous professional development and view education and training as a strategic investment requiring purpose, discipline and measurable returns.
I emphasized that TVET has moved from policy design to decisive implementation. Institutions must now strengthen accountability, comply with legal and fiduciary frameworks, optimize the use of finances and equipment and uphold integrity in training and assessment.
Significant investment has gone into capacity building, curriculum reform and industry alignment. The focus now is execution that is deliberate, consistent and results-driven for the benefit of trainees, industry and the country.
@Muoria_Dr It is disappointing and contradictory for Murang’a University of Technology to deny students industrial attachment opportunities over fee arrears while national leadership continues to emphasize skills development, TVET growth and industry.
The Principal Secretary, State Department for TVET was honoured by the presence of the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, whose leadership continues to strengthen the education sector. The PS emphasized that TVET has transitioned from policy design to decisive implementation. Institutions are now expected to strengthen accountability, comply fully with legal and fiduciary frameworks, optimize the use of financial and physical resources and uphold the highest standards of integrity in training and assessment.
Significant investments have already been made in capacity building, curriculum reform and industry alignment. The focus now shifts to deliberate, consistent and results-driven execution for the benefit of trainees, industry and the nation.
