CAT 101.

It took me exactly six days to perfectly potty-train my cat. I will share a few practical tips that will definitely work with your cats here. If you gain a thing or two, you must share it. Deal?

Now, let's dive right in

First, don't laugh or smile while chasing your cat around for correction. It will take it as a play and positive reinforcement. If for example, your cat scratches you, don't beat it. Hold it by the neck and pin it down without hurting it for two to four minutes. Restrict its movement and look into its face without. Try your best not to blink until you have to. They find this intimidating and would not do what will expose them to it. You can use this for when they scratch chairs too.

Potty training: Get a place where you want your cat to be doing the shits and fill it with enough sand for the cat to be able to do some digging. You'll replace the top sand after using something to scrape the poop away every day.

You know how children have discipline corners? Cats need it too. You should have a cage for enforcing discipline. A cat pooping or peeing in an open place is trying to challenge you. You shouldn't allow the behaviour to stand.

After potty-training your cat, if it poops somewhere you don't like, put it in that cage and keep it there for a day or two. From there, take it straight to the place you assigned for it to poop. It will of course leave there. After three or four hours, take it to that litter place again. Do this three to four times in a day for the next three days. It should get the message.

If it poops in the wrong place after this, put it back in the cage but don't feed it for that day. It won't die, don't worry. Take it out the next day and put him in that litter box again. Do this three to four times in a day and repeat for two days. You shouldn't have any problem with that again.

Please note that setting boundaries with these cats work better when they're young. So, the earlier, the better. Leave other cat related questions in the comments. I'll answer the ones I can.
