@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta 1 Samuel 15:3, where God tells Saul to attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything, killing men, women, children, and infants. Deuteronomy 20:16-17 commands the Israelites must leave nothing alive that breathes — basically total destruction
@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta You’re proving my point. Exodus 21:7, where the law allows a man to sell his daughter as a slaves. Numbers 31, where after God commands vengeance on the Midianites, Moses orders the killing of all boys and non-virgin women, but to keep the virgin girls for themselves.
@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta What you’re telling us is that you actually believe God issued these murder absurd commands. Unbelievable that you can’t acknowledge that such commands could not come from an all wise and all loving God. This is how religious people rationalize doing the most immoral things.
@GtaMans96431@Heavennbound Next, you’ll be telling us that Jonah really lived in a whale for 3 days, evolution can’t be true because of Genesis, women were made from Adam’s rib, and that God actually issued these absurd murder commands in the Old Testament.

@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta How does Christ fulfilling the law explain how God could issue such absurd murder commands? It doesn’t. It’s like a serial killer arguing that his murders are excused because someone later in his family fulfilled them. The murder commands in the OT are absurd and immoral.
@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta It’s not about being “angry that the Jews had to pass laws like that.” These are killing commands that came from God, not the Jews. The OT says they were given by God. The point being, how can you believe in a God that would issue such absurd murder commands?

@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta You ask for evidence but submit none of your own. You just rely on circular reasoning by citing the Bible to prove it’s true. Add to this the fact that Jesus spoke Aramaic and we have no Aramaic versions of what he said. Therefore, we don’t really know what he said.
@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta Why does it matter where the argument comes from? You’re not being intellectually honest in refusing to concede that the majority of scholars believe the Gospels weren’t written by eye witnesses.
@jpkoch@trad_west_ The point I’m making is that it’s absurd to argue that if someone is willing to die for their belief it proves it is true. That’s the absurd argument Mel Gibson is making. People die for all sorts of ridiculous beliefs - like the Muslims who flew planes into buildings.
@ChrisGeorgeBerg@Renatta The mainstream scholarly view is that the Gospels are anonymous and not by eyewitnesses. I can’t help you if you refuse to accept that fact.
