@ChrisNJWilliams @nickswarb @maximpetergriff We’ve used white vinegar, but any would work I think - you can also use cola drinks but they’re more expensive

@nickswarb @maximpetergriff That would definitely work on any flat edges, and probably the curves if they’re not too tight.

@nickswarb @maximpetergriff - you can buy tin on eBay if nowhere else and melt it on a domestic stove - it’s lovely stuff and carvable with a decent wood carving knife (yes we have made tin and walnut love spoons like that, drilling out the blank, pouring in the tin, and carving back - highly recommend it!)

If you need to replace the handle they’re normally made of ash, you shape it and still a hole slightly undersized to the tang to hammer it in - you can help fix it with epoxy, or a traditional trick I learned in Japan build a clay well and pour in molten tin...
