I understand that Claude Code resends the full conversation history on resume, but it’s hard to predict that one resume could exhaust a fresh session. More transparency around session usage would really help.

I resumed my existing Claude Code session and, within seconds, the session limit turned red and showed it was exhausted. I hadn’t started a new task or generated much output—I had simply resumed my previous work.

@claudeai I’m a Claude Max subscriber and ran into something today that was really confusing. My current session limit had just refreshed, so I assumed I had a fresh session to continue my work.

@claudeai I’m a Claude Max subscriber. My session limit had just refreshed, but resuming one Claude Code session exhausted it within seconds. This feels wrong. Can you please explain how session usage is calculated?
