This isn't a huge sacrifice since I've never been much of a tweeter, but I think I'm gonna jump on the hasta-la-vista-twitter bandwagon. I'll be over at https://t.co/sWEKzSqerw, continuing to tinker with better ways of doing social media.

@ProbablyOliver yeah definitely agree it's tough! opens a whole can of worms. But I don't think the fear of being inconsistent needs to be a barrier for a decision that otherwise feels pretty clear-cut
@ProbablyOliver [...] frankly my timeline lately has not had very much high-quality stuff in it lately, so I think it'd be better to spend my time in other ecosystems anyway
@ProbablyOliver Maybe! It's gut feel honestly. I don't think continuing to use Twitter would be morally wrong--I just don't feel like doing it. If I was getting more value out of Twitter, the tradeoff might end up with me staying. But again, never been much of a tweeter, and [...]
@ProbablyOliver the former. I'm ok with using products made by people I don't like, but there is a line, and elon's definitely crossed it.

I'll close out with my favorite joke, told to me while I was lying on the side of the road in east malaysia after going over my handlebars and almost skewering my gentleman's area (the bruise covered my whole thigh and lasted several weeks):
@jmduke (ask me how I know this 🥲)
anyway once I actually have money I'm looking forward to starting "YC but instead of funding we give you a part-time job"
@jmduke Plus going all-in isn't necessarily as helpful as it might seem--feels great for first two months, after that the psychological pressure alone is incredibly distracting. imo plausible that in many cases doing it part-time will be faster anyway
@louisnicholls_@simonowens@ShortFormErnie (I too found that engagement from recommendation subs was 10x-20x lower than organic subs, so unless Substack says otherwise I'm now inclined to think that the majority of that 10% of paid subs is not coming from recommendations)
@substack just discovered that subs which come via comments are attributed to your network. Your landing page says "10% of paid subscriptions to Substacks come from within our network." Can you clarify what portion of that 10% comes from recommendations?
