Back the Blue (son). Flyover people are powerful. Discerning. Always looking for goodness…Faith in humanity. A life of music. MME. A teacher. Observing.
Sometimes you stumble across words that cause you to read again and again until the hope comes through….. quote from “Men in Dark Times” by Hannah Arendt.1904-1975.
Observation: National evening news dueling leather chairs. #TonyDukoupil, #TomLlamas, #DavidMuir. Each talks so fast it is difficult to follow, stories zip by with barely time to assimilate, showing my generation, I suppose. It is the 10 second brain train that our young ones have been subjected to for a generation.
@TedJoy71 When think about people who only know concrete……no wonder our bicoastal population is out of sync. We have our own heaven Mr. Joy. Right outside the door……
Continued Gratitude #8
So many things. Safe travels, road trips from mid America to Florida, across to Oceanside. Thousands of miles, God’s beautiful geography, kind, caring people, love of family, being in the room with sons and grands, hearing their thoughts, laughter, goals and challenges. Am so very grateful for health, happiness and safety. And I mean it……all the time.
Dads are sometimes less than. Only in the young years for sons and daughters, because Moms are usually the nurturers. But then Dad steps in around 8 or 9. “Here is your rope, which I have tied to your being. I will allow this rope to lengthen time and time again as long as you, my sons and daughters, make good decisions and judgements that I hopefully have taught you gently and truly. It is my job to jerk this rope when I see you making a mistake…..you will learn and I will let that rope out again……until it is no longer necessary…..because you will be what I raised you to be.”
The father of my sons never had to jerk the rope.
I was given one by a lovely lady sitting next to me and a friend at lunch. Spur of the moment conversation was thankfulness for our friends and a sweet afternoon in a beautiful place. She said it was a sort of mission of her church. I thought it was pretty terrific.
I carry the small icon with me as a reminder that The Holy Spirit is always with me.
@MikeBales Never Mayo on anything. Miracle Whip and mustard on saltines! Bananas go with crunchy peanut butter. ( wasn’t that Elvis’ favorite snack?) Love the Wonder bread.
A very late Continued Gratitude #7
Life does have a way of seeming slow but suddenly hitting warp speed. My late gratitude covers weeks, even months. Birthdays, spring break, grands in volleyball and baseball, even a grandson who has found the piano and is doing a fantastic job of teaching himself, with a few FaceTimes with yours truly, Gigi. Therein lies my gratitude. Am so thankful I can be a part of those grands’ lives. They make me so proud. Be grateful every morning when you open your eyes and put your feet on the floor.
