A heated exchange broke out in the early hours of today between a KNUST student and a preacher after the student came down from his hostel room to confront the preacher over excessive noise.
The student accused the preacher of disrupting the sleep of residents with his loud preaching, leading to a tense verbal confrontation.
Yep. This is the real body showing its real face.
Imagine this is their reaction to a random audio that's gone viral.
Now, imagine how they have legally gone after journalists who have said things that they have been unable to prove, over the past couple of years β some of those things we KNOW are true, but couldnt get the affected persons or documents to come forward to corroborate.
Should we give you names of respected sports journos/pundits who dont bother doing that hard stuff anymore because of these suits? A few: Nabila. Songo. Julian. Atta Poku. And others.
You people want which sports journalists to speak to power? The majority of sports journos who are being paid GHS 5k a month, or less? Note: people like me, Akoto, Obama, BKB, Ayala, Fent, Rahman and a few others you know are not among the majority β our lifestyles are anot the norm at all.
The President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana was here in the USA on the ticket of this same body. Yes, he is an incorruptible man, but how do you expect the up and coming sports journalist in a small station in Nkroful or JamesTown to have the courage to speak up with such optics?
You want the journalists whose media houses dont even have lawyers for normal cases, let alone defamation suits, you won't them to "speak truth to power"?
The same sports journos who suddenly have strange cars and motorbikes following them when they do "hot" programs? Strange phone calls speaking strange languages to them at strange hours?
Or @Chiefseiduadamu, who was OPENLY assaulted at a gathering by a bodyguard affiliated to this body, with witnesses present, and nothing came of it?
Or the ones, like me, whose ENTIRE stations got blacklisted from covering Ghana Premier League matches (when everyone else is given permission to do so, thereby denying us of important revenue) β simply because I did a video that criticised the GFA boss for working to go for a third term? Video here: https://t.co/jjdlMbZ6Ff
Because of the above video, my ENTIRE station has not been given accreditation to cover Black Stars matches by the GFA for almost a year now β and we have had to get accredited through third parties.
Read that again.
Are these the sports journalists whose lives, families and livelihoods are at stake that you expect to speak truth to power for you?
A whole @anasglobal β one of the greatest investigative journos in our country's history β was brought to his proverbial knees after investigating the GFA. His assistant was MURDERED. It didnt happen on Mars; it happened at Madina, in Accra, in Ghana.
You people β all of you β are not serious. Maybe some of you dont know this, so I'll forgive you.
But those of you who know this, and still expect us to work normally in such hostile conditions β you are all mad. MoabobΙ dam.
Properly empower journalists. And watch us do magic. Otherwise, dont waste our fucking time.
Have a good day.
π¬π βI learnt the hard way. I returned from the UK in 1997 and started Engineers & Planners with just one piece of equipment.β
A resurfaced video of Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama shows him reflecting on how he built Engineers & Planners from the ground up.
He revealed that he relied on loans from several banks to grow the business, saying the challenging journey shaped the entrepreneur he is today.
