@tracewoodgrains I laughed, but the response sat with me, and it really made me think about what I have a negative reaction to and why. I also respond negatively to stories that promote politics I disagree with, but I almost never identify that as the reason, at least not right away.
@tracewoodgrains I don't remember which fantasy author responded to a reader complaining about his female characters being unrealistically strong or powerful by saying that the story also featured fire-breathing dragons, yet the reader seemed to have no problem with that unrealistic aspect. 1/2
@EnderSword@DoopeeTim@freganmitts Learning something necessarily requires putting in effort. Sure, there are more and less effective ways to teach and learn, but if your goal is to expend as little effort as possible, you aren't going to learn very much.
@cselley I had a moment like this the other day when someone told me that the guy at the Tesla dealership explained how the car's autopilot feature doesn't stop it from turning right on red lights in Montreal, so you have to stop it from turning yourself.
