⚠️ The American public may be about to be fleeced. ⚠️
OpenAI, a deeply unethical company that was built on a series of lies, does not have a realistic road to profitability. And they reportedly want the USG government to rescue them
But here’s the thing: Anthropic, Google, and others can readily fill the same niche.
Under no circumstances should the US bail them OpenAI.
Nor should taxpayers be forced to take a stake in them.

During Bolivia's general strike against neoliberalism, there are workers' assemblies almost daily in the indigenous city of El Alto that surrounds the capital.
This is where the people vote on strategies and analyse how the strike is going. The new popular democracy takes shape.
This hit piece is part of a broader effort by the left labor bureaucracy, and the electoralist wing of DSA, to isolate and push out revolutionaries from these movements. They fear (and are correct to) class struggle unionism will ruin their relationship with the Democratic Party.
Chris Smalls shot to prominence for playing a key role in the shock union win at a New York Amazon warehouse. He was charismatic and energetic at a time labor needed both.
But in the years since, his own ego has overwhelmed his political contributions. https://t.co/OhMu1dVEFf
This is an admission of the irrational nature of capitalism. It doesn't encourage innovation, rather profit accumulation at the expense of people and planet. We need an international alliance of workers democratically planning the economy. Not an alliance of the billionaires.
The new @AnthropicAI post on the approach of recursive self-improvement is very important. It chimes with my argument that some kind of international effort is needed to brake the completely unconstrained AI arms race: https://t.co/kexd0jnra6
It's actually so wiłd that people don't see that “raising the minimum wage to a true living wage would cause businesses to close” is an indictment of capitalism.
Kuwait is (or was) home to the largest US military contingent in the Gulf. What this demonstrates, again, is that the US cannot protect its Gulf clients. That's the most important message here. The US presence only brings economic catastrophe. https://t.co/pccc9FxkCR
On the same day a Democratic Governor of a swing state did a photo op with Sam Altman as they broke ground on a $16 billion data center that residents widely oppose, a bunch of NY Democrats marched with war criminals at a parade in NYC.
The Democratic Party continues to prove it is not an opposition party to Trump's Republican party.
Notice how universities are moving at break-neck speed to make sure their students have AI but have been resistant to paying graduate students, faculty and staff a living wage. It's not about the money—it's about what a neoliberal university system prioritizes.
🚨JUST IN: Colorado Democratic Gov. @JaredPolis just vetoed first-in-the-nation legislation to restrict algorithm-driven surveillance pricing schemes that critics say have been driving price increases across the American economy.
Fear not citizens if you should ever be put in a concentration camp by our state sanctioned fascist paramilitary force our state officials will do everything they can to ensure you stay in it and will arrest those trying to help you with as much violence as it possible.
🚨UPDATE: Anti-Delaney Hall ICE prison organizers who've been trying to shut down DH for a year tell us FBI/HSI officials who invaded their mutual aid tent yesterday confiscated...donated diapers meant for families of prisoners.⬇️Our EXCLUSIVE yesterday

Via Climate Revolution Action Network (CRAN): People arrested by NJSP last night are being held at Essex County Jail. “They have not been booked, processed, or allowed a phone call or legal representation since last night.”
In the US, spending on data center construction now exceeds spending on public transportation infrastructure — including airports, marine terminals, and all mass transit.
90+% of ppl recycle to protect the environment. This is not bc ppl don't care. The problem comes from media like Forbes curating a narrative that this is a problem caused by individuals when it's companies on the Forbes 500 that are responsible
Doublethink: The state fires tear gas canisters at peaceful protestors, then blames the protestors for "throwing tear gas" that the police shot at them. This is used as a justification to escalate state violence.
🚨 THIS IS WILD.
Rep. Menendez says he waited 15 HOURS outside an ICE facility trying to check on a detainee leading protests over conditions inside.
He says he told officials:
I’m not leaving until I know he’s okay.
Then after waiting overnight…
he finally gets inside.
And the first thing they tell him?
The man he came to see was gone.
Moved at 2 AM.
Read that again.
A member of Congress shows up for an oversight visit…
waits all night…
and the detainee he specifically came to check on gets transferred before he can see him.
Menendez says that detainee was helping organize a hunger strike because people inside wanted their stories heard.
Whatever your politics are…
when oversight shows up, the answer should be transparency.
Not a disappearing act at 2 in the morning.
