I'm at the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies @OfficialBrismes conference at @SOAS in London, joining scholars exploring war, empire, and geopolitical disruption across the MENA region.
A vital part of any leader leading well in this new era is understanding the world beyond one’s own comprehension and reality, and beyond what we see on TV. I feel particularly honoured to be in a position to witness and comprehend a different side of the story than what we hear in the media, and the challenges I’m protected from while living in Canada. I hope to share a few reflections in the coming week.
As I always say, from understanding comes growth. Many thanks to BRISMES for inviting me to attend.
I've also just been to a talk at BRISMES where we briefly discussed geopolitics and climate impact. The temperature during @london_climate Action Week? 33 degrees C.

Earlier in June, I was invited to present a masterclass to @thewiesuite on Future-Ready Leadership: Reinvention in the Age of AI, Climate, and Constant Disruption.
The timing was impeccable. Women in C-suite positions became my calling as I sat with women in a mastermind in Paris, and again at the House of Beautiful Business in Athens — just last month.
I work in a male-dominated industry, and 90% of the women I come across rarely get the opportunity to speak, let alone permission to transform, under the old paradigm. I wanted to close that gap, so I built the AfterShock Reinvention Circle — a 100-day, women-only accelerator starting this fall.
The WIE Suite kindly compiled key insights from this month's masterclass, which you can read here: https://t.co/JOFydcd8vc
If the women-only cohort sounds like what you're looking for, do please get in touch.
With thanks to the Paris mastermind: Jeffrey Shaw, Kade Kimber, Emily Paul, Tom Roberts, Rachel Wallins, Tony Martignetti, MBA, PCC, and Julia Phelan, Ph.D. And Jordan Bower and all the people at the House of Beautiful Business in Athens. Thank you, Kayla McAvoy, for inviting me to The WIE Suite.

Dear CEOs and Boards,
Announced yesterday, Earth Overshoot Day 2026 falls on July 30th.
That's the date humanity—the people buying what most of you sell—will have consumed everything nature can regenerate in an entire year.
And we still have five months left to go.
According to Global Footprint Network and York University (using UN agency data), we're currently using nature 73% faster than the planet can replenish it. The highest level of ecological overshoot ever recorded.
I know you think in terms of quarterly results and shareholder value, so think of this as a balance sheet that has been in the red for 50 years straight.
There was one exception. In 2020, the pandemic briefly pushed the date back, which serves as proof that when human activity changes, the planet responds. But we reverted immediately.
The accumulated ecological debt now equals 20.6 years of the Earth's full biological productivity.
The Earth is bankrupt. And unless CEOs change the course of their business structures, the bank manager is climate collapse.
This is precisely why I wrote "AfterShock to 2030", a manifesto for CEOs willing to lead their organizations through the age of AI, climate, and societal disruption. Reinvention by 2030 is the job description to reach Net Zero.
As I write in the dedication: "For your children—because they will live with, honour, and breathe the choices you make today.” And with that North Star of my own, it became my mission to ensure my book was only available on digital readers and Audible. I didn’t want one tree felled.
So what do you want to do about it on Monday?
Three familiar words that you may have learned as a child crossing the road:
STOP. Before you default to business as usual. Before the next product launch, the next supply chain decision, the next quarterly plan. Just stop. Your employees, suppliers, and customers are frozen, waiting to no longer feel gaslit and stuck in the behavioural loop.
LOOK. At your environmental balance sheet. Where are your biggest extraction points? What does your supply chain actually cost the planet? Read your own ESG report skeptically. Does it reflect the urgency of a 50-year ecological deficit, or does it read like a box-checking exercise? Ask yourself honestly, if the WEF or UN declared a global climate emergency tomorrow, the way they did with COVID, what would you change? Why are you waiting for that order?
LISTEN. To the data, to your people and to planetary intelligence. Then put this on every board member's and every C-suite leader's personal agenda—not the sustainability team's, or a CSR line item. This is the defining risk of our era. This isn't one person's job. It truly is everyone's.
I urge you all to: Stop. Look. Listen.
We are trying to cross the road, and we are all standing at the kerb.

"AfterShock to 2030" has been awarded as a CANREADS 2026 Book Awards finalist in the Business, Finance and Marketing category.
I'm a British-Canadian. I've lived in Vancouver these past 20 years, so being recognized here in Canada means everything. I came here because Canadians understand that humanity, technology, and the planet aren't competing priorities.
I wrote this book because the gap between what executives are being told about leadership and what's actually required right now is quite dangerous. Most leaders are running old code in a system that has already evolved.
The book gives CEOs, CFOs, and CTOs a way to understand the forces reshaping everything, see their own nervous system patterns clearly, and take concrete action — starting with 100 days — before 2030 closes in.
The next six months will be unlike anything we've experienced. I don’t mean to be alarmist — it’s just the reason this book exists. Becoming mentally sovereign to become what the Artificiality Institute calls "cognitive sovereignty" is now a leadership imperative in the age of AI, climate, and societal disruption.
Tomorrow I'm bringing this live to The WIE Suite Masterclass: Future-Ready Leadership in the Age of AI, Climate, and Constant Disruption.
Come find out what your leadership avatar is — and what to do next.
Many thanks to Victoria D'Anna at CANREADS for sending the certificate to me digitally to reduce the carbon footprint of sending via courier.

I had a bold conversation on what we need to lead through AI acceleration, climate risk, and constant societal change.
The fabulous Leigh Burgess and I got through a lot!
We talked about psychological safety, neuroplasticity, AI experimentation, and why resistance is so costly for leaders and organizations. And learning how to stay human while also evolving in this polycrisis, BANI or NAVI age. It really is the challenge of our time.
Hope you find the interview useful.
Many thanks to Leigh Burgess for inviting me onto her show — the Bold Lounge!

On June 4th, I'm presenting a Future-Ready Leadership Reinvention Masterclass inside one of the most exclusive communities for women in business. It's for leaders who want to learn about reinvention in the age of AI, climate, and constant societal disruption.
The WIE Suite is a private, members-only network founded by Dee Poku, formerly of Paramount Pictures and Focus Features, and named by Marie Claire as one of 50 Women Changing the World. She built The WIE Suite because there weren't enough spaces for women to accelerate their careers through genuine support.
My masterclass is at 12pm EST / 9am PST on June 4th.

Those who know me well knew that I was dreading the energy dip after launching my book "AfterShock to 2030".
What I didn’t expect was the antidote: my long road to Athens, and a love letter to Till Grusche, Tim Leberecht, and the attendees of 2026’s World Beautiful Business Forum.
My editor called this my magnum opus. You decide.

Last week, I birthed the AfterShock Reinvention Circle, and it starts on 1st June. It’s a women-only, 100-day program for this new era of AI, climate, and societal disruption.
It’s a private, eight-attendee, application-only program. Corporate level, but without the surveillance. If you know, you know.
Why now?
After listening to women wanting to reinvent themselves with urgency in this new era during the #HouseofBeautifulBusiness event in Athens, I designed this program a few days later in Hydra.
Curious? DM me, and I’ll forward the digital brochure for you to ponder.

I joined the wonderful @CDowdHiggins on the "Your Working Life" podcast, and we covered a lot of ground from my book "AfterShock to 2030", including:
- What the polycrisis is actually doing to our nervous systems — and why that matters for leadership
- Why AI is accelerating loneliness at the top
- Radical listening — and why Elon Musk accidentally demonstrated it first
- Why every organization needs a Chief Coaching Officer
- Why AfterShock to 2030 is digital-only (and the carbon math behind that decision)
- How to find hope and agency when the world feels overwhelming.
Thanks for listening!
And thank you, Caroline, for having me on your show. I really enjoyed spending time with you!

I’ve been very impatient to get to “the House”. Very.
While launching "AfterShock to 2030" in July last year, I found myself searching for what I call "the others”. They're the catalysts, citizens and business romantics actively shaping the Fifth Industrial Revolution: the collision of AI, climate, economics, leadership, and societal change.
I wanted to find all the leaders who knew how to bind tech and human possibility because not finding them is a lonely experience. I was impatient because I just couldn’t believe I had to wait nine months in a world that changes daily.
Then, norms and expectations were scrambled a little. I scratched my head when I first received the schedule. Even co-founder Tim Leberecht said it’s become an “out of control monster” of an event. Much like our world today.
One thing I found to be certain and quite fixed: everyone I talk to calls it “the House”.
As a first-timer, I’ve been told it feels somewhere between Davos, Burning Man, and a philosophical salon, and I’m quite grateful not to do a sit-down TED-style talk-at-me or traditional sell-at-me conference marathon.
I’m travelling right now. I took the long road to Athens from Vancouver on purpose. London, Paris, Rome, and then Athens, as I wanted to experience Europe through the lens of thousands of years of history and where we are now — politically, culturally, economically, psychologically — and where we will start to see what 2030 might look like.
It’s with great thanks to Otti Vogt that I decided to go.
Hope to have a report for you after I’ve digested my time at the House of Beautiful Business.

We’re kicking off a new C-suite program to address the AI challenge Gallup highlighted recently. It’s called the “AfterShock 100”, which CEOs can use for fast reinvention.
Dennis Ceccarelli and I have been comparing notes — bringing together his experience building and scaling inside Microsoft and 2K, and mine working with CEOs and leadership teams on reinvention under pressure.
The result? We’ve teamed up to create the AfterShock 100 solution for CEOs who want results in 100 days, not two years.
Why? As Gallup explained, AI strategy is moving faster than execution — and organizations aren’t set up to absorb it.
So, we built something together.
A 100-day, time-boxed reinvention sprint for CEOs and C-suite leaders — designed to close the gap between what’s been said… and what’s actually happening.
We’ve built three program options depending on a CEO’s appetite — all structured, accountable, and designed to create visible momentum within weeks.
If this is a conversation you’re already having, reach out and we’ll share more details to see if it’s a fit.

Remember when Windows 95 came along? Organizations had to change overnight. Now, AI and other converging factors are forcing even more fundamental, high-speed shifts.
Here's what I told @DisrupTVShow hosts @ValaAfshar and @rwang0 about how CEOs need to bring their teams along with the reinvention.
#Leadership #CEO #Trust
Most organizations have an AI strategy. Few have a clear path to the human and organizational evolution needed to execute it efficiently and effectively.
Gallup surfaced this gap recently — and it’s exactly what we built the “AfterShock 100” to solve.
Dennis Ceccarelli and I have been comparing notes — bringing together his experience building and scaling inside Microsoft and 2K, and mine working with CEOs and leadership teams on reinvention under pressure.
We’ve teamed up to create the AfterShock 100 solution for CEOs who want results in 100 days, not two years.
Why? Because AI strategy is moving faster than execution — and organizations aren’t set up to absorb it.
What looks like a technology gap is usually:
– Misaligned leadership behaviour
– Fragmented decision-making, and
– A system that can’t move at the speed it now needs to.
So we built something together.

Did you know that Microsoft's voluntary retirement offer is an indicator of the Fifth Industrial Revolution (5IR) in action?
Say, what?
Widely reported on Thursday, this is a first for @Microsoft, and a really mature move. Horrifying and too fast for 99% of us, I’m sure.
Let me explain.
In 2019, I gave a TEDx talk in Brooklyn about the damaging 4IR cycle of hire, scale, layoff. It was tone deaf for the hype cycles, lack of collaboration, and sheer energy that entire business units had forged together with politics, underdiagnosed behaviours and poor systems and leadership thinking.
In my talk, I urged organizations and individuals to become more emotionally intelligent in the emerging AI age. That was 2019.
We’re now in 2026.
This is the first indicator that organizations are taking responsibility and a leadership stance in this new era, before UBI is probably forced by around 2030. It is the most emotionally intelligent move by MSFT. It’s a move from reactive layoffs to managed voluntary transition.
Why is this a mature move?
It's a shift in accountability: Microsoft is being accountable for the changes in human and technological behaviour brought about by AI. AI is fundamentally changing who is needed and how we work, and showing how quickly organizations and leadership teams must adapt.
This is a conscious redesign — a reinvention — away from the norm. It’s a good start.
I’m sorry for the discomfort this is causing. I know the grief. I know the fear. I know the anger, sense of powerlessness and outrage, denial and frustration. But we must move past the media doom-scrolling and find the wonder in this reinvention so we can find our way forward.
My three-step adaptive intelligence recommendation:
1. Identify what you need to learn.
2. Identify what you need to build.
3. Identify who your people are.
See AI as your force multiplier to navigate this new era.
Make it happen. Or as Jean-Luc Picard would say, “Make it so."

How would you feel if you found out you were sharing the stage with the FBI’s former deputy director, Paul Abbate?
It was a pivotal moment for me. You may not know that my book, "AfterShock to 2030", specifically touches on cybersecurity, food security, and power security, and the profound responsibility CEOs have for their customers and employees in these areas.
Hearing Paul’s insights on internal security felt like a resonant bridge to the work I do.
Between that and David Bray PhD’s incredible work, I felt so ready to sit down with @rwang0 and @ValaAfshar on @DisrupTVShow. We took a deep dive into "AfterShock to 2030: A CEO’s Guide to Reinvention in the Age of AI, Climate, and Societal Collapse."
It was an energizing conversation about what leadership actually requires in this new era.

I’ve been looking for a "funny" way to help CEOs reinvent themselves in the age of AI, climate change, and societal shifts.
Yup. I did.
I signed up for @vfs Comedy Writing Class immediately after finishing @MIT's New #SpaceEconomy certification in February.
Why the shift from space to stand-up?
I knew that our nervous systems need levity to process ideas and threats that feel too big to comprehend.
We're inundated with negative news that feeds a cycle of helplessness, anger, and victimhood. To make the change we need in the world, we have to move past the fear.
That’s why I was so happy to discover climate comedian Stuart Goldsmith.
Graham Norton loves him, and after seeing Stuart's recent "climate therapist" bit, I was hooked. I realized I don't want to be him — I just want people to hire him. If you’re leading an organization right now, you need this perspective.
How are you keeping your team's "nervous system" resilient enough to innovate right now?
