- The facts
The outbreak involves passengers with severe respiratory illness, reported on May 2, 2026, with illnesses occurring between April 6 and April 28.
There are at least three deaths and two confirmed cases of Andes virus, a strain that can be lethal and allows for RARE person-to-person transmission

- Hanta is a rodent-borne virus (from Hantaan, a river in Korea), it gives an hemorrhagic fever, renal syndrome and also may give respiratory illness.

- Diagnostic?
Given the different serotypes , IF a
i. symptomatic suspicion arises, then one needs
ii. the serology (immuno-reactions)
iii. followed with PCR confirmation
Fishing trips by PCR alone will be useless , as in teh case of SARS2

- Vaccines?
GOOD luck with that - They will not be useful for mass prevention as - even with human-human transmission it is a highly prevalent zoonotic diseases... so unless one kills ALL rodents on tech planet, and vaccinate them ALL... [It is actually like SARS2, mass vaccination was NEVER a sound policy for the same reason]

- Mortality ?
Except for the Andes serotype, it is RARELY lethal as we have routinely a couple of hundred cases in Belgium per year for ex.
Andes is prevalent in the americas (with mortality just below 30-40%), other serotypes in Europe around 1-10%.

It interested the military, as it may form the BEST aerosols for spreading a disease - with minimal changes.
Some have done Bioweapon work on that bug!
So being able to tell the difference between what is NATURAL/NORMLA and what not, is very useful to advise the authority

So in BE, when I was medical CSO In BE DoD, we monitored rodents in the wild, and their food (acorns from trees), and ... patients serology.. as we knew the virus bio-cycles, we could distinguish NATURAL from 'forced by humans' outbreaks.

While usually spread from rodents, Hanta Andes strain can be transmit between people through
- very close, direct, or prolonged contact, such as household members or caregivers, or intimacy.
It does NOT spread through casual, or brief contact like the flu. It DOES NOT!

- ADDED a purely political decision based on available BEDS - so insanely corrupt politicos, who control the number f beds can play with your balls and declare the beginning or teh end of a pandemics at will

THIS is NOT OK, and has to be reversed

WE should REMOVE political hacking of our most precious good - OUR HEALTH - and hence get rid of politicized science ... and of those hacks (generally on the Left) who play such games...
