We are a non-profit organization dedicated to research & development of solutions to address critical problems of global fishery and marine ecosystem collapse.
We spoke at @ToniicNetwork about Oceaneos and our mission to restore marine ecosystems, fisheries and biodiversity. Listen to the podcast to learn more. https://t.co/I9xnC0fENa
@BeingRachel_GS @naomirwolf@aocs “It isn't anyones place to interrupt the natural state of any natural resources, especially without consent” is what everyone does every day.
@BeingRachel_GS @naomirwolf@aocs What do you think you are doing everyday when you turn on your lights, use a plastic bag, drive your car or use your computer. We are all part of the only and largest geoengineeting experiment ever conducted.
@naomirwolf What source do you use to check the "public record" information about us? Owler is not a reliable source. Instead, try the BC Corporate Registry and search for "Oceaneos Marine Research Foundation" https://t.co/sjwA2VaQB1
@naomirwolf I would be happy to. Interesting fact: in ocean fertilization, an average 1 cup of bio-available iron is dispensed over an area the size of a football field. We're talking about really really small amounts. Most people misunderstand the scope and scale.
@naomirwolf You copied a statement that Oceaneos "wants to deploy this risky technology without permits". That is not true. We have never and will never deploy this without permits as stated in our Code of Conduct.
@BeingRachel_GS @naomirwolf@aocs Indeed, we don't say that there are no repercussions, but that it is highly unlikely. The only way to find out is by conducting proper scientific research at a small scale and within government guidelines with proper controls and mitigation strategies.
@BeingRachel_GS @naomirwolf@aocs I'm just talking about Ocean Fertilization. https://t.co/Hq0xmT05GQ is at the forefront of that research and just informing you.
@naomirwolf @BeingRachel_GS @aocs Research into Ocean Fertilization should continue and not be stopped because of unrealistic underbelly fears or made a taboo. But it must be thoroughly regulated. More here: https://t.co/pSo0TZydFF
@naomirwolf @BeingRachel_GS @aocs Independent toxic algae experts that we work with indicated that it is unlikely that a toxic algae bloom will occur as a result of an ocean fertilization experiment in the deep ocean. The probability is lower than 2%. That does not mean that it couldn't occur, just very unlikely.
@naomirwolf @BeingRachel_GS @aocs Ocean Fertilization is conducted in the deep ocean typically more than 100 miles offshore. Toxic Algae blooms are a coastal phenomenon; there has never been an observation of a toxic algae bloom on the deep ocean.
However, that does not mean that it cannot occur.
