Hello, I am Lars @OceanLars a PI on the #Tarsan and #Artemis projects from @univofstandrews. I am responsible for the seal tagging @_SMRU_ and salinometry. But I will try to get my hands into all the other wonderful things we'll do on this cruise @GlacierThwaites
I’m Davide, a robotic engineer from @NOCnews working on the development of on-board control system for our AUVs, including Boaty McBoatface. My background is in marine robotics, with focus on control and navigation systems for AUVs. @GlacierThwaites

@callum_rollo is a data scientist/glider wrangler with @VOTO_Knowledge. When not deploying gliders, he will coordinate NRT processing of oceanographic data to aid decision making aboard the Palmer @GlacierThwaites
Mission begins to #Antarctica’s remote #ThwaitesGlacier where a fleet of underwater robots, including #BoatyMcBoatface, will determine the impact of ice melt on global sea-level rise.

Hi! I’m Li, a PhD student in machine learning for navigation of underwater robots at KTH, Sweden. I’ll work with RAN (@goteborgsuni’s Hugin auv) onboard. Check out my cruise blog: https://t.co/cUJ9VqH3cZ @GlacierThwaites
Greetings! I’m Laura @GlastraLaura a PhD student at the @universityofri Grad School of Oceanography. I’ll be sampling seawater for noble gases onboard, which serve as useful tracers that allow us to fingerprint different water masses (e.g., glacial meltwater) @GlacierThwaites
Whilst still docked in Punta Arenas, the @GlacierThwaites team have been busy preparing their equipment for when we depart. This includes running pre-deployment tests, bringing equipment aboard and preparing for time on the ice. @_SMRU_@uniofgothenburg@VOTO_Knowledge
I’m Yixi Zheng @YixiZheng a PhD student of Antarctic physical oceanography at UEA @ueaenv. I will work mainly with CTD/gliders on this cruise. I also supply cute cat photos to everyone onboard to keep us catffeinated 😻 @GlacierThwaites
Follow this thread to see the people and groups involved in the TARSAN project aboard the RV Nathaniel B Palmer as part of the @GlacierThwaites project this year
The TARSAN project is an interdisciplinary endeavour, pulling together individuals from various research institutes. We will gradually be introducing various members of the TARSAN team onboard
After 3 weeks of quarantine, some of the UEA glider group have recently boarded the RV Nathaniel B Palmer as part of the TARSAN team within the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration, alongside ARTEMIS and THOR teams. @GlacierThwaites@GlacierOffshore@artemisonice
Exciting news! 🥳 Our paper on the influence of the Kuroshio and of the Gulf Stream on the nearby coastal sea level is out. https://t.co/qEIjE8sajC
/w @DidierSwing, Joël Hirschi, Aurélie Duchez, @oceanographil, @ivanhaigh, and @ger_the_sea
Exciting news! Opportunity to come and work with me and Seb Swart as a PhD student in the @PolarGliders team, working with Southern Ocean data, air-sea fluxes and surface ocean processes as part of the @SO_CHIC_EU project. More info and apply here: https://t.co/83AYvu9euG
Looking for some literature where regions of the water column have been excluded due to the T/S relationships exhibited.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Can be papers or textbooks
@DanJonesOcean I'd also add make sure you quote or explain the procedure properly rather than 'see x' if your work builds on others. Multiple times I have not actually been able to find what is being reference in that paper, making it very difficult to follow the method.
@SeaExplorerUUV@ClarkGRichards@alseamar Amazing! Definitely of interest. Do you know what the instrument on the right hand side is? Is it some kind of flow meter?
