Former West Charlotte High state champion Kennedy Meeks got a big honor this week.

On the 10-year anniversary of his McDonald’s All-American selection, the company presented his framed All-American game jersey, which will be displayed at at the McDonald’s restaurant on Beatties Ford Road, near the school.

Meeks led the Lions to the 2011 state championship and later helped North Carolina win a national title. West Charlotte retired his high school jersey earlier this year, along with that of first round NBA draft pick Patrick Williams.

The local owner/operator of the McDonald’s restaurant, Mashoor Awad, presented the jersey to Meeks, who was joined by the current West Charlotte basketball team, coaching staff, cheerleaders, and school band. Everyone received a free lunch.
